Because one has beauty and history.
The other has McDonalds

I've been to McDonalds maybe once in 20 years.

The USA has beauty and history too; it's not the preserve of Europe. I was on holiday. Spent first part of my holiday in Japan. Your thoughts on that?

have you been there? usa.
No.
Spent an entire 10 days with Americans once. OMG.
Talk about full of themselves and their place in the world.
There is absolutely nothing in that redneck place that entices me to board a plane.
They do not care for their fellow man, they do not care for the health of their fellow man.
They are the worst of the human race.
And to top it off, I spent a day with four Americans (not the same ones as previously stated) on a private tour to the Versailes palace. One guy was highly intelligent, having been a prime mover in the design and implemation of the Saturn 5 engine.
But his Mrs was a dead set racist. Asked our guide if the French Government had implemented a law to stop Muslim immigration. You could see our guide was uncomfortable with the question and she could only respond with the statement "why would we"?
The yank racist proceeded to tell us how America should actively discriminate against a religion. When I pointed out that this was against the very constitution that she held so dear, she shut the f@rk up.
Thankfully. But of course she bought up Trumps name, before he was a candidate. Didn't like it when I informed her that the USofA would be the laughing stock of the world if they elected him.
I work with a woman who is married to a yank. They went back there 6 months ago. He is from the south and they were both shocked by the amount of Trump support.
He is mightly happy to be here not there.
There is not one thing in that place I would want to see, or hear.

Europe is great to visit, but so is US.

New York City is magnificent on so many levels: sport, jazz clubs, comedy shows, museums, restaurants. Great party town for adults.

Love working and socialising with smart Americans.

far enough. l have spent only 10 days there and found the people the opposite, very helpful and
polite. did not do any organised tours of new york, sort of winged it. better way of doing it.
found it great place and will go back if things work out to see more.
there no doubt about the south, there still is massive problems. know people who will not visit
there relations there because of the racistism
but then again there is places in qld that where just as bad, so it happens every where.

Sorry to burst your bubble but there are a significant number of other nations / regions that are far ahead in the race for that title.

Sorry but I didn’t find any other way to best describe it. Ignorant, prejudiced , generalizing & over reacting dribble had my preference but that was a bit too long.

I've driven across approximately half of the states in the continental USA. It's a gloriously beautiful continent filled with a range of different cultures and lifestyles, magnificent natural beauty and fascinating experiences.

The US has some pretty significant problems at the moment but it's a very interesting place to visit. Listing all the great things I did in the US would take me too long and it's late.

I don't really care if people visit the place or not... that doesn't impact me! But I know I loved it.

Same can be said for Australia ironically.

Are you short? Happens to me too.:p
does not work for me when l try and go in the none door side. l tend to look a bit silly

When an automatic door doesn't open for me, why do I always look up at the sensor?
Most people do it and it's probably a sub-conscious thing to see if the light is on.
I realised a long time ago it was a complete waste of time and stick my arm up.
Similar with supermarket gates, just move your hand in front of the sensor on the pole, (as opposed to stepping back and walking through again).

This might be best in the vent thread, but reading about annoying things like automatic doors not opening automatically, reminded me of other annoying things, like:
  • Plastic cutlery; its completely useless and bad for the environment
  • Imported oranges; how on earth did it become economical to bring oranges in from California?
  • The time it takes for a Myki reader to actually read your Myki card
Covering some of life's big issues here.

I just took my phone out of its protective cover in order to plug it into the stereo in my lounge. I then decided to go outside and do some yard work so I grabbed my headphones and phone and off I went. 5mins in the headphone cable got caught on something, ripping the phone out of my pocket and onto the concrete.

R.I.P in pieces screen. :(

Soooo.....America still an attractive place to go?
If your a Muslim you best get their fast. Very fast.
If you're Black, Asian, he'll, anything but white, best you expect a bit of overt hate.
After all, white supremisists have now been given permission to express their views.
If you have orange hair, relax, your an automatic entry. They might even give you residency.

I'll stand by my original comments. Wierd people and a place I've no interest in visiting.
And I reckon the events of the last 24 hours confirm my beliefs.

Don't get too comfortable as it could be coming to a suburb near you.
Pretty frightening.
