What a sensational performance from Doogs!!! He may have started slowly (first 15mins involved 0 touches and a free against) but then he literally exploded into a ball of flames. Moved into defense he literally flew to spoil Ben Holland, I was off my seat applauding when I noticed Melbourne had still got the goal.

10/10 for that performance well done Doogy.
 
Not up to it.On the forward line and defence.
The best way to establish whether someone is AFL standard is their ability to keep their feet. McDougall falls over far too often.Dogs had to take a punt and his cost was minimal.
Will have to step up the search for a KP player again this year,this time will have to trade away established player(s) and or picks to find one.
 
I must have been a different game. Doogs was good, you have to remember its his first AFL game since about round 2. He had the 2nd most spoils on the field with 6 and applied alot of pressure. For a bloke his size he moves really well. After seeing him last night, he does look a little heavy around the legs. Realy needs to lose 4-5kg to add to his already natural mobility. Would have to persist with him as a back man.

I thought he was decent, especially when it came to his workrate/wilingness to have a go. He was in the top 5 from both sides for contested possessions (4 CP's from 16 disposals) and got the 3rd highest amount of 1%'s (8).

Not saying he was anything more than decent/OK, just wouldn't be giving up on him on the back of that performance.

I agree. I thought he did a lot of the hard yakka that a lot of the other Bulldog players didn't do. Well worth more opportunities. Don't know about being too heavy, thought his shorts were baggy looking, maybe that was the reason. We have to remember too that we were thrashed and it was Doogs first game for a while for the Doggies. Not an ideal situation to judge him on.
 
I thought he played well and did enough to hold his spot in the team. I like his willingness to dive down to get the ball when it hits the deck thats not easy for such a big man.
 
If Doogs winds up being another tall defender, will that allow Harris to go forward?

He was better than most last night. He really did put in the effort, good tackling, good pressure, good spoiling. If Eade drops him I will be very angry, we have to give our talls more than one game at a time!! At least he's given Tiller a fair go.

I'm ashamed to say it, but that passage of play where he took the soft, weak, easy option and handpassed the ball 20 metres over the line had me out of my seat hurling abuse. That sort of stuff is not on, it's defensive crap that will get us nowhere.

On a happier note, Doogs was good.
 
I watched him closely all night and reckon he did ok:thumbsu:

Good with the 1%ers.

Perhaps defence is a spot for him as he seems lost in the forward line.
Also not helpful that he was ignored during most forward thrusts:(
 
I thought his work on the ground, in loose ball contested situations and his handballing was pretty good. I thought he actually put in a couple of good chases, although he seemed to drop off a bit as we fell away. He had an awesome spoil which unfortunately fell straight into a Melbourne players arms and he goaled.

On the downside, the rest of his contested work in the air wasn't so hot, and he looks a little lost down forward, although it's hard to know when to lead when the build-up goes, short kick backwards, handball, handball, handball to a guy under pressure, short kick backwards, handball, handball to a guy under pressure, long bomb to a man with 2 opponents:confused:

Still sales of the Bulldogs calender should soar if we keep him on the list

6 spoils in defense and a beautiful tackle that was rewarded with holding the ball. Not bad for a bloke that was a late inclusion. Nobody is suggesting he was best on ground, or even in the best. But he wasn't disgraceful and deserves another crack. And easy up on the fish;)

Na, we play Mcdougall down back to even out the handsomeness on the field. You see Johno is holding up the forward line and Cross in the midfield we lacked a good looking person in defense(no offense to Harris)

Good to see you guys have sorted out McDougall's main talent. :thumbsu: I hope to god he comes good, because he is such an interesting character. :)
