Last Doom title I actually played was Doom 3. Have they abandoned all the Union Aerospace/Space Marine stuff? I liked that stuff!

Who IS the 'Doom Guy' these days?

I think "lore" wise its the same DooM guy or at least the one from 3 or DooM 64.

When I say its only DooM in name I meant in how to play the game (it still retains familiar weapons, enemies etc). With the older games I loved the freedom in completing levels however you liked. Doom 16/Eternal it felt very restricted and having to do extra steps to finish levels.

During Doom Eternal he becomes the Doom Slayer and yeah Eternal is vastly different from Doom 3 (and I was very fond of 3).

Looks grouse, I'm glad they are continuing to evolve and change the gameplay instead of just making Doom 2016 again.

Wonder why they steered away from the Doom Eternal formula that literally 99% of people loved.

It'll be good to replay Eternal before this comes out if they're vastly different.

I struggled to get into Eternal as well and gave it a few goes. I had a hard time getting into the groove of constantly needing to pick up the right buffs and just wanted to play it like 2016 and pew pew demons to metal music.

Just got my code and l claimed the game on Steam

Is meant to be the $170 Premium Edition too, with all the DLC etc. but I don't see that as being 'in my library', just the standard edition. But we'll see.

EDIT: Checked the activated licences page in purchase history and Premium Edition confirmed!!!

Really weird scaling which looks to be the result of optimising for 8gb consoles. That's disappointing because previous games on the previous versions of id Tech were capable of high refresh rates at native resolutions. Even Indiana Jones which was only id Tech 7 had typical id Tech performance but by this version of id Tech 8 the performance is taking a massive hit and the scaling is arse. Also surprising how well the 9070xt does considering I thought this was an NVIDIA sponsored title! I'm sure there will be a new NVIDIA Game Ready driver this week but I doubt that will improve the performance more than a percent or two.
