Its that time of year when I once again make my way to the cycling thread. To start my comeback off with a bang I would like to share the rumour that I heard over the weekend.

There may be a recent European TdF winner who has failed a biological passport in 2013.

I would not post this but I have heard this from multiple sources and whilst I cannot vouch that it is 100% accurate it may be worth keeping an eye on the news over the next month or so.

its menchov.

he did not win the tdf.

need to look at the politics. many riders have putatively failed the pass on the biopass port. but they get a pass. cos they have a political support in aigle switzerland. you need to look at who is the easy mark. and its dennee. dennee menchov

wiggins, sastre, evans. but all three enjoy good political profile in aigle.

unless it is andy schleck, or contador. but they could have made it more simple with contador on the clen positive and thrown the book.

ofcourse, denis menchov never won july.

but if they take someone, it has to be menchov in my eyes. russian tick. rabobank tick. spanish base tick. no political constituency in aigle. CAPITAL tick.

Oh come on, declaring that a TDF winner will be involved in a doping scandal just before the TDF is like saying Collingwood will choke in a GF, it's a gimmie.

Interesting

the illness and injury thing, well, he just did not wish to ride for Froome. what a cnut. Froome helped him win last year, Froome was the best rider last year. Wiggins should man up and repay the debt

The reason why Santambrogio was shit after his stage win was because they flushed his blood bags when tipped off about Di Luca's positive.

That makes sense now that he tested positive for EPO on stage 1.

Had to wonder, given his inability to go with Evans or any of the other big riders, when riding for BMC. Now, here he was going uphill at the same rate as Evans, Niballi and all the other contenders. His performance was dodgy as hell - and know we know why.

What happens to the Vini Fantini team, now that they've had two major EPO positives in a very short space of time? Do they get deregistered, or something?

staggering to think these guys think they will get away with EPO these days...

just plain stupid. Why not blood doping....

Does cycling do "silent suspensions" like tennis, in order not ruin the sports image? Although I guess cycling's is already wrecked....

The team will struggle to survive. The sponsor will leave most likely, but they will try and find a way to keep the team running. It's not all doom and gloom yet for them, but they have a massive task of keeping the team alive.

And like AFL football apparently, given Dimwit's confessions towards the end of last season.

i got sick of seeing lance's name constantly in my alerts, so figured it was time we had a thread to discuss all the current and future doping scandals.

So to kick things off, surprise surprise one of the guys in the BRIGHT FLURO YELLOW outfits has returned a positive from the giro:

He's has expressed disbelief at this however:

"EPO? Me?"

Some members of the peloton are keen to stick the boot in:

"Of course I'm not happy, but I'm not even surprised," Acquarone toldTuttobiciweb.it. "We all knew."

So. .is it a case of a few rotten apples spoiling the bunch??

Or are they all still at it and was he just not wise enough with his dose(s)?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts, your wild accusations and unsubstantiated rumours.

Santambrogio, like Wiggins in 2012, chose to rub everyone's faces in the fact that he was on the juice. He went from an average domestique, to a Giro stage winner almost overnight. Apparently it was the biggest talk of the peleton in week 1 of the Giro, other than the weather.

I suspect that large parts of the peleton are still on the juice - but not taking anywhere near the volume of junk that Santa obviously did.

So do we think Fantini were on a team wide programme that they got wrong? Or did Di Luca take Santa under his wing?

I know it is not related to Lance but some of the things on the banned list are just plain stupid and there is no medical reason for them to be on the list
