I say it's great that the sport is finally being cleaned up. Professional cycling is pretty dirty with a ton of illegal stuff happening on those tours they have.

Thoughts on the Not Normal magazine expose on cycling - and the power levels achieved by certain riders over the last 20 years or so, on the Grand Tour mountain stages?

The report seems to give Greg LeMond the green light as the last clean rider to win a Grand Tour. Cadel's levels are listed as "suspicious", but he's a long way from being one of the worst offenders.

That is a sensational read Vader. Thanks for posting.

I was converted a cople of years back with regards to athletes and doping and now still enjoy my sports as much as I used to. I just refuse to listen to the BS coming from teams and athletes (of all sports) re how clean they are.

Interesting point that Rogers makes in The Australian yesterday re Team Sky...

Last year, Rogers was one of the key riders who took Sir Bradley Wiggins to victory; this year he is riding in Contador's Saxo-Tinkoff team; it seemed obvious, therefore, that he would be bringing a lot of valuable intellectual property with him.

"But you can't just copy the team," he said. "They are a lot more advanced in their training and their sports science. They know exactly what is required to win. Until you have the people who understand what is going on, you can't just copy it."

Quietly, it is a disgrace that Phil and Paul are still in the cycling media. It makes my skin crawl having to listen to them blather on and on.

Nearly 100 years of drug taking to win. Incredible history.

At least they're not on coke and speed anymore. :D

A good series of roids, testosterone and HGH before boosting on EPO every day of the tour is the modern way :thumbsu:

make sure to switch on the subtitles like a genome

Great video. Pity I missed this 3 months ago.

Is AOD9604 a poor mans AICAR?

I went to the normal you tube page for this and hit the show more button for the authors comments. He had the following

About the "official" Novak Djokovic's transformation :

About the "official" Bradley Wiggin's transformation :

From the ESPN link on Djokovic

WHAT DOES IT take to become the best when your competition is already the best ever?
.....

But no sport has advanced in the past decade like men's tennis, where a rivalry among three once-in-a-generation players has accelerated the game's evolution. First Roger Federer, then Rafael Nadal, now Djokovic -- progression in the form of a battle royal.

......

His food is gluten-free. His drinks are a combination of half a dozen vitamins and minerals. His sleep sometimes comes in a hyperbaric chamber. His reading material is about body awareness and mindfulness. His stress istested using a biofeedback device. His water is lukewarm during matches because cold fluid idles too long in the stomach. His free time is, in fact, "recovery time," arranged by a professional scheduler. His celebratory beer in the locker room after winning a tournament is just that -- a single beer, a reward meant to entice performance.

His team of trainers and coaches travels with him 11 months each year. They sign confidentiality agreements that forbid them from discussing details of their work, because secrets are powerful, and power feeds greatness.

"In our sport now, there can be no room for weakness," Djokovic says. "You look for small advantages. Every shot has to be a weapon."

Yep the gluten free cover.

The story about Froomes early career is hilarious. Whenever it pops up, I always smile.

I thought Matt White was the one who stepped down?

Seeing as you guys have mentioned tennis, I said S Williams was doping on the tennis forum, got slammed.

She may not be but Rafa allegedly is/was....

Suspended but just came back. OGE now flying high.

Tennis players on roids? Yes everybody is on roids. Once the muscles are built and the drugs are flushed the roids are not detectable.

If you want to make big money you take drugs. That's just the way it is. The world we live in is cutthroat.

Sports that are more about skill and teamwork will generate more interest over sports that are more about strength and stamina.

One can only wonder what they're on. Last night it was like watching a re-run of the most highly EPO fuelled climbers of all time going at it.

Contador hasn't been the same rider since getting busted for Clenbuterol. He knows that his next positive will see him kicked out of the sport, so he's had to wind the doping program way back.

UK Postal on the other hand obviously have something that they know cannot be detected. I just hope the labs come up with a test inside the 8-year window and Froome gets disgraced the way Armstrong has. I guess this is the benefit of Sky's links to the UK Olympic cycling program - they get the best, newest and most high-tech doping program of all the professional cycling teams.

Agreed it is ridiculous. The sad thing is so many other teams seem to have dialled it back a bit, but these jokers have taken it to another level.

Well said Vader

I'll bet if Froome knew what the result was gonna be he might have pulled back a little.

People know that's not a full natural performance.

Froome would know EXACTLY what he was doing. Why do you think he stares at his power meter like 75% of the time he is riding. He knows the exact wattage output he is putting out, and knows that is far and beyond higher than any one else is capable of. Plus he would have Brailsford yelling in his ear his and everyone else's times.

Froome roughly put out 6.5 w/kg last night. Dr Ferraris target when he set up individual programs, was to target 6.0-1 w/kg which equated to ~40 minutes up Alp d'Huez.

Froome last night riding at 1801 VAM was the equivalent of Pantani 94 levels. Not many recorded VAM higher than what Froome put out last night. In the first main part of the mountain before the flat, he outside Armstrong 2001 up Ax 3.

So how many Watts per kilo is suspected to be the max natural output?

Not sure of the figure but to ride at Froome's pace up that climb I would have had to averaged 585w for about an hour, which would be impossible for me (or anyone!).

Although I did put out 1534w with a broken collarbone last year at the TDU....
