We all know how that ended.
We also know how this year's Tour ends unfortunately.. Froome might as well already be in Paris. Tough to stay up late to watch a done deal.

andCan't say that I'm surprised about Froome being the only rider to get near TM's time. He probably would have beaten him, if he hadn't eased up in the last third of the stage. As it was he put more than 2min into most of his direct competitors, with Kwiatkowski the only top-10 rider to lose less than that.
I'm expecting him to win the Tour by around 10min, destroying the field again on Mont Ventoux and Alpe d'Huez (redux).
It's a pity UK Postal have turned the race into a farce, because it could be really exciting - without Froome, Valverde would be in yellow, with the next 4 riders all less than a minute behind (6 riders within 2 min).
Everyone in the peloton and everyone watching knows that UK Postal are doping. They're not even trying to hide it - they're flaunting it outrageously. Sadly, the only way they're ever going to get caught is for some disgruntled ex-domestique to spill the beans on them. Wiggins will probably leave the team at the end of this year, but he won't be the one to talk - doing so would cost him the Olympic Gold and last year's TdF win. I have no doubt that someone will talk, one day. It happened to Armstrong and it will happen to Froome/Wiggins as well.
Probably more appropriate in this thread than the stage threads..Ideally, I would like to see the whole UK Postal team deregistered. This thing is much, much bigger than just Froome & Wiggins. It's clear that this doping program is systemic within the team and not isolated to one or two riders.
However, the rest of the peloton are showing all the signs of being relatively drug free. I'm sure that none of them are riding on milk & bread alone, but they're not doped up to anywhere near the degree that they were even 5 years ago. The (relatively) dope free version of Contador is showing himself to be human, making the competition between the rest of the riders much more unpredictable and hence more exciting.
Is there any argument that Froome isn't being assisted by PEDs here? Someone? Anyone?
It's utterly insane how someone can put in big gaps on the climbs and finish 2nd to only Tony Martin on a flat ITT.

The thing is, he's as right as you are. No one knows but the guys themselves and the teams/doctors I suppose.i was talking with a few mates at work about the doping in cycling still being rife and one of my workmates (who is a pom) refused to hear it and defended Froome and Wiggins into the ground. Was pretty amusing.

This is the first time I can remember the peleton actually being angered that someone is doping and making subtle remarks about it in the media.
The best way to bring down Sky would be for the teams to stage a protest and simply refuse to ride a stage.

Can't remember all the way back to May? The Peloton were pulling their hair out when Santambroggio turned from ok domestique into a climbing god.
From recollection, Froome wasn't even an OK domestique. Lucky to have his contract renewed, is my understanding.
Watching Wiggo, Froome and Porte recreate themselves as riders, while Mick Rogers suddenly seems to have forgotten how to ride since leaving Sky, is a joke.
And I'm bloody sick of the commentators refusing to note the slightest hint of Armstrongitis - like Paul Sherwin saying the other day that "it's not like he came from no-where - he finished second last year" - and before that, Paul? Before he had completed the transformation from donkey to stallion?
The only positive is this year seems to demonstrate that BMC either aren't doping, or aren't very good at it.
Oh without doubt.
Froome's timeline is the most ridiculous reading of all time
- As an amateur getting dropped from the peloton on 100km flat races around Nairobi. His mum has been quoted as asking his coach, "Is Chris any good at bike riding?"
- While riding for Barloworld, rides the Commonwealth games for Kenya, and loses 5'20" to the winner
- moderate results in GT riding for Barloworld. 36th in 2009 Giro
- picked up by sky, rides 2010 Giro, mostly in the autobus, manages to get kicks out for towing on a motorbike
- sacrificing himself and his bike to get sprinters back into races
- 2011 rolls around, rides Vuelta and magically is amazing. 2nd place.
- somewhere around here is offered a £100k contract. Almost signs it before TDF I think. Ends up with massive contract after GT performances
- 2012 should've won TdF, and comes 2nd to a determined Contador in the Vuelta.
- 2013 gets even thinner, but manages to become to best rider since Armstrong
Lol.
