Round 2
Hamill says

Doulton Langlands
23 disposals, eight tackles, five marks
“Powerful and strong Doults, I really liked his game and he’s going in the right direction. He’s strung a good four or five weeks together now, he’s tough and he’s just a product of hard work. He knows he’s strong, he’s using his strength and his ability to get out of contests is very good.”

Doulton Langlands
Five disposals, two tackles
“He’s just a bit groggy – copped a head knock early on in the first quarter. He was going okay too, Doults, he’s had a really good block. We’ll let the symptoms settle down and we’ll do his SCAT test and then we’ll go from there.”

Doulton Langlands
15 disposals, six kicks, three marks

“He’s another one who I’d add to that mix where I liked his explosive speed and pace and power. Credit to our rehab guys and the way he’s been able to perform over the past couple of weeks. He’s just another one who’s just got to keep building his confidence and keep trying to maximise his strengths.”

Don’t Panic !!

Doulton has come a long way from last season when he was struggling to get a kick . He is improving very quickly and i wouldnt be surprised to see him debut early next year .

Don’t Panic !!

Doulton Langlands
19 disposals, three marks, three tackles
“We like the way Doulton’s going in the way his strengths are. I thought he put another really good game together on the wing and as an inside mid. He’s breaking the lines well for us and he’s got a really good understanding of how we want to play. He’s a worker for us and we like the improvement that we’re seeing from Doults. Was interrupted in his first couple of games in terms of not being available, but since then he’s strung some really good games together for us and we like where he’s going.”

Doulton Langlands
20 disposals, three marks, one goal

“He just keeps improving the right way, Doults. He’s a product of hard work and we really like the way he’s going. His wing roles are really strong for us with his patterns, but his inside work is really good and as good as any out there. We threw him the middle when Hanners came off in the fourth. We’ve just got to be able to keep skilling him up in that area with all his different positions within the ground, but I thought his stuff inside was solid and his outside run and shape as a winger was really positive.”

Don’t Panic !!

Just on Doultons improvement this year , i think he will play seniors from next year on . He is getting better and better each week . Last year he was struggling to get 6 disposals when he got a game . Hoping for a big future for him .

Don’t Panic !!

Doulton Langlands
16 disposals, four marks, three tackles
“Again, Doulton is improving every time he’s playing. We started him as an inside mid and he got to work for us in there. Some of his wing patterns were really good as well. He’s improving in his decision-making, he’s improving in his skills and his contested work is very good. Him and Ben [Paton] were always going to play today [after making the trip to Townsville].”

Doulton Langlands
19 disposals, 11 kicks, seven tackles, one goal
“What I liked about Doults [is that] he’s starting to have a lot of presence and grunt to his game inside, and then on the outside, his transition work has been his focus. His ability to get to point A to point B has been strong and getting better each week. I liked the way he went about it from a contest point of view and what he did post-stoppage was really good.”

Langlands to make debut

Langlands to make debut - saints.com.au https://www.saints.com.au/news/2019-07-18/langlands-to-make-debut

Doulton Langlands will make his long-awaited debut for St Kilda on Sunday against the Western Bulldogs.
The 19-year-old Saint will be the club’s fifth debutant of the season, with the No. 46 part of a significant week of changes at Moorabbin.

Armed with damaging pace, a bullish presence around the stoppages and versatility to play inside and out, the North Albury product is set to make his mark in the red, white and black.

Langland’s journey to the top hasn’t been without its challenges. Selected with pick No. 8 in the 2017 rookie draft, he has had to work his way up the hard way.

A stint on the sidelines with concussion, and a hamstring tendon injury over summer have both been major obstacles in securing a debut. But spurred on by the recent promotion of housemates Hunter Clark and Nick Coffield, Langlands has put together an impressive block of football in the VFL.

A breakout game against Coburg (25 disposals, one goal) in Round 9 and a follow-up performance against Werribee (16 disposals, three tackles) thrust his name into the selection conversation for the first time.

An eye-catching game against Richmond (20 disposals, nine tackles, one goal) followed in Round 13 before finally banging down the door against the Cats last week where he racked up 22 disposals and seven tackles.

Langland joins Matty Parker, Callum Wilkie, Robbie Yong and Nick Hind as debutants in 2019.

Doulton showed a lot of improvement this season . Enough to break into the seniors and not look out of place . Was unlucky to be dropped as more senior players came back from injury . Big potential for coming seasons.

It had been a long journey to the big-time for Doulton Langlands.
Round 18 against the Western Bulldogs was the ultimate showing of perseverance, with the rookie Saint getting the call-up after an emotional week for the club.
A product of hard work and not one to throw in the towel, Langlands’ shift to a bullish inside midfielder paid dividends, with the No. 46 starring in the VFL before breaking into the senior line-up.
It was a debut game to remember complete with a clutch goal, 12 disposals and one rousing rendition of the club theme song.
Langlands put on the red, white and black three times before a groin niggle saw him out of the side for the remainder of the year.
But with some senior footy under his belt, he’ll be wanting to experience even more in 2020.
BEST GAME:
Langlands’ debut game is always one he’ll remember, with the roar of the crowd when he kicked his first goal stuck firmly in his mind.

Doultan Langlands threw down the gauntlet to Saint Kilda selectors when he ran a second placing in the Saints November 3km time trial. Langland's sub 10 minute finish was a monstrous 40 seconds under his previous personal best time. The Saints website described Langlands astounding effort as 'surprising' and 'determined', and Seb Ross called the improvement 'dramatic'. Langlands led the pack for most of the run before surrendering top spot to Saints time trial king Ed Phillips.

Langland's showing strongly suggests that now that he has had a taste of playing AFL he wants more of it, and he won't let his rookie status impede his progress. Doultan played three games late in 2019, the Saints winning two of those matches including his debut game against a doggies outfit that were on a winning roll.

Josh Battle spoke about some advice from Essendon great Matthew Lloyd that really resonated with him; to figure out what his strength's are and then work really hard to turn them into a weapon. As a consequence Battle put in a big preseason to take his running ability to another level. Battle forced his way into the Saints defensive unit and racked up 19 matches in 2019.

Langlands seems to have taken a play out of Battle's playbook and has worked hard to take his running to another level. He still remains a fringe prospect for the Saints, but with standout training performances like these he will make it very difficult for the powers that be to ignore Doultan Langlands at the selection table.
