Remember the 'whistler' during those big third quarters, he would start as the ball came off the boot right until it sailed through for a major! Magic days.
They were that quick sometimes the board had changed before the goal went through particularly in some of those 10 goal premiership 3rd quarters in the 80's!

Smashed Derm and won the Norm. Walls said that day when he heard it was going to be 30 degrees he knew we had it won.

There's an old story about Greg Wells, the gun we pinched from Melbourne, anyhoo he's only been there for 10 minutes it's half time, we're 6 goals down, and he's shitting himself.
Apparently, 19 year old Kenny Sheldon, says something like We'll be right, then out we go, smash on 10 before 3qt, and have it sewn up.
The self-belief those blokes had.............

That doesn't surprise BG, seem to remember it happening more then once for some reason.
I remember a 3rd quarter against Hawthorn in '82 at Princes Park. 8 goals in the first 11 minutes of the quarter put the game to bed (Ashman got 3 of them). Of course later in the year we followed this up with an 11 goal 3rd quarter against the Hawks in the QF (Harmes kicked 4 of them, including an absolute gem from the right hand forward pocket at the Punt Rd end of the MCG).Premiership quarters.......
Good old Stan Gilday. He went to Williamstown after failing to make it at Carlton & kicked 6 goals on debut.
But there was certainly a need for the Dom to give Dipper a little tickle across the beak.....
