Does anyone remember the time when we could insult, demean, vilify and humiliate without being accountable for our words and actions?
yes I do - it's called today

anyone help me? I want to be a sexist, bigot and racist - you know, hurt people verbally and maybe in print - this political correctness suggests I no longer can - any help out there? someone advised me to just respect other people from now on - it can't be that easy can it? anyone? anyone at all?

Get used to this younger whipper snappers. You will get to enjoy this type of stuff more regularly in about 5 years time. Be patient. Won't happen overnight but will happen. :p

Great videos footyfan78 :thumbsu:

Liked the joy on Ashman's face as it was his first premiership after 8 years at the club. Missed the '79 one due to injury.

Yeah , the smile on Ashman face awesome satisfaction of long time coming. I was too young to appreciate how him missing on 79 flag would have been tough for him so 81 flag must have been so much joy for him. Think he had been at club for about 8 years at the time so the success for him did not come easily.

I must admit I was a bit pissed the other night when I found the Marcou video. I pissed myself laughing listening to that one in the state I was in. Pure fluke even finding it on you tube whilst looking at some 81 flag videos there.

Funny, only just heard Marcou again, on SEN radio yesterday whilst driving in car to family Christmas do. Want to track down and hear the whole thing. He is a gem to listen to. Must find it in their audio files as I got to my destination before the interview had ended.

Why the adulation for Marcou?
I love listening to players give an insight into their time period, especially an era of success where players like Marcou were barely heard from in an era players barely spoke unless on World of Sport. Plus he sounds like a fun character that enjoyed the success on and off the field. It is called going down memory lane.

If you can find it there was also a ripper JYB during the year on SEN with Shark Maylin. Some of his stories had me in tears from laughter!

Harmesy at the front telling Marcou for the umpteenth time:

Remember the 79 GF, it was a wet day ball was slippery. I did this ****ing fantastic pickup with one hand, run full pelt, then kicked the ball which slides off the side of my greasy boot. But I kept going Alex and belted the ball from the boundary line to Bomba waiting in the goal square who kicks a goal!! I look at Jezza who gives me a nod and a smile. We go on and win by 5 points, and it's ****ing Collingwood do believe it.

Marcou - tell me again Harmsey. :)

I was just looking back earlier and those premiership teams of 79, 81 and 82 had some super bloody footballers in them. I know time fades things and each year the team that wins the GF is the best but damn those teams would stand up well against any comers. Fitzpatrick, Doull, Southby, Johnston, Buckley, Armstrong, Ashman, Keogh, Bosustow, Hunter, Harmes, McKay, Jezza, Austin, Maclure, Maylin, Glascott......

It is a dynasty that never gets the acknowledgement it deserves. Without the debacle that played out after the 1979 season, we could easily have won in 1980 as well.
