Robert Muir going nuts, i was sitting in the Social Club.
Cant remember which umpire it was, someone will remember.
I was there the day Collins was felled by the Hollywood punch. The Saints fans in the Animal Cage went nuts. Cheering, of course.Robert Muir going nuts, i was sitting in the Social Club.

Another memory against St Kilda was Dennis Collins getting belted, pretty sure that was also Muir.
It was at Moorabbin.

Must admit I played hundreds of games and was never reported but my admiration for you grows. I saw what happened, the guy deserved it. That's why the penalty was light, severe provocation......was Kevin Smith, who murdered him that day.
Got reported the same day v the Bombers at Windy Hill in the juniors.
As luck would have it, we had to sit in the naughty boys room on the second floor of the old Brunton Avenue VFL House. There was a huge protest, and rightfully so, from the Saints fans out the front. Tribunal killed him ..........reckon he got the season.
I snotted the bloke, behind the play in a cowardly action, that is still the best punch I ever threw, was reported by 5 of the 6 available umpires on the field, and only got 6 weeks.
A very good man, Ian Findlay, represented us both.

To this day it is the ugliest reaction from a crowd I have ever witnessed. Closest thing to seeing someone kill Bambi ever!!![]()
Anyone know how Barb is these days?
I sometimes saw her at the footy but havent for several years now.
I am still going to slap him if I ever see him in Adelaide.
That is the most full-on crowd reaction I have seen/heard. Not to mention Murphy having a go at the prick
One of my fave games was out at Waverley. last home and away of 87, against North. Sticks kicked the winning goal after the siren. I was watching through my fingers and on the edge of the old wooden bench seat. Remember Kenny Hunters dash down the wing in front of us. Felt like an eternity for us to get out of the car park. But i didnt care, was smiling from ear to ear and looking forward to the finals the following week.
Were you on the radio listening to the results of those 2 other games? Sticks' goal put us on top and gave us the week's rest. Er, hello 15.
I was at that game.
From memory that win put us on top of the ladder and a week off.
Carlton won an exciting Semi Final at Waverley. My recollection of this was Sticks and Braddles combining to seal the game. Nothing better in footy than a fleet footed Bradley collecting the ball and taking off with several bounces and Sticks climbing high to take a screamer. The Jimmy Stynes match happened the week after. I was there and I'll never understand how the Dees lost the match. The Grand Final was sweet revenge for the previous season. Only GF where I wore a singlet and got sunburnt

You ain't Robinson Crusoe. Wind changed 3 times in that game, and Melbourne had it every time.
The last quarter is like some football tragedy........Campbell runs into an open goal misses from 15, Simon Eishold from inside the square misses. Langford, kicking out from a point barrels one up the guts with a minute left, goal to the Hawks. Ball goes up in the middle, ends up with Bucky.......and Jimmy goes into football infamy.
There's a famous photo of Stynes going into the rooms, and in the background is Johny Northery.....about to enter Warp Factor 8.
Sir Kenneth Luke was a visionary, without a doubt.
As President of Carlton back in the day, did you know Princes Park was originally the venue for the Melbourne 1956 Olympics?
Go look it up.

....let me guess, the ticket prices were too expensive in the Legend's Stand so they shifted it to the G!?![]()

You'll have to ask the T-60, even I wasn't born then.![]()
I've still got my copy of thisThe Footy Record was a bit different when Fletcher first started playing.
