This one is from left field a bit, but anyone remember Rod Waddell?
A little bloke with tatts that wore number 10 IIRC.
Didn't mind a bit of biffo, was fairly quick and had a small, curly mullet I think.
Trying to remember from what era, from memory I think early to mid eighties.

Yep Rod Waddell was a young Aboriginal player we picked up from Western Australia I think. Didn't play too many games but he did make an impact. :thumbsu:

Okay Down Memory Laners, something a bit different for this morning.

Over the weekend I was trying to remember all of the VFA teams, both 1st and 2nd division. It was a real battle. So I have 2 topics, first what were all of the teams who played in the VFA and secondly can we nominate all the players who donned the Navy Blue after a career in the VFA. Wayne Johnston is probably one who springs to mind.

Enjoy this BigCountryBlue....Who was the number 35 in the first clip, Lenaghan??

Remember reading somewhere that Carlton and Collingwood were both pursuing Waddell and Collingwood played him in their reserves team even though he was zoned to us.

He ended up playing for us after a league investigation which seen Collingwood receive a fine and were stripped of premiership points from the games he illegally played in.

Would of just added to the rivalry and hatred between the 2 clubs no doubt.

With the benefit of hindsight he probably was not worth the fuss!

We may not have fussed if Collingwood hadn't broke the rules and played him.

Ended up at Geelong after 5 games in 2 years, the years he spent at Carlton was a tough time to make it at senior level, 81/82 !!

Poached him Collingwood through some zoning stuff up, ended up at Geelong.

He's the one wearing number 10 when Buzz took MOTY v Geelong.

The VFA Clubs I remember...

Port Melbourne.
Coburg.
Preston.
Yarraville.
Prahran.
Sunshine.
Oakleigh.
Werribee.
Williamstown.
Brunswick.
Dandenong.
Frankston.
Springvale.

Which ones am I missing?
Waverley and Northcote as well.

Geelong West aka The Roosters (I think). Swans jumpers?
Sandringham aka The Zebras
Mordialloc and Camberwell had teams.

Geelong West had the fabulous Joe Radojevic at FF.

To the tune of Mickey Mouse - S-A-N-D-R-I-N-G-H-A-M

Caulfield had a side for many years.

Used to love the games on 10 on Sundays during the 70's.

My lot was Dandenong, Frosty Miller at FF, big Eddie Melai in the ruck, Ray Orchard on the ball, and David Droscher running FB. They used to have wars against Port, with Freddy Cook, any one of those Goss arseholes, and Boby Profitt at full back.

Great memories Stig! :thumbsu:

I reckon Tim Reinerts and Simon Verbeek may have come straight from the VFA to Carlton in the mid to late 80's..
