That would explain why his sons were thugs, particularly Paul & Kevin.Old Man Goss ruled with an Iron Pipe.

that's no fun
Might put it back up when everyone's done trying to remember
seems every second suburb had a team at one time or another
Tim Rienets, Adrian Bassett, and Mark Porter all came from Coburg, the first two in the early 90's( pretty sure they played in Coburg's back to back flags in 88/89) and Porter was after 95 i think.

I reckon Tim Reinerts and Simon Verbeek may have come straight from the VFA to Carlton in the mid to late 80's..
You didn't have a Sunday Side?????
St Marks/Fawkner according to Blueseum.did we also pick up Mark Majersak (???) from the VFA??
Did we get Wayne Johnston from Prahran ? I have a recollection that whoever he played for in the VFA he won a flag in 78 before crossing to Carlton in 79 so in five years had played in 4 premierships. Pretty good strike rate.Coburg in division one and Prahran in division two. I probably have that wrong but I am sure Prahran were division two??

Used to love the games on 10 on Sundays during the 70's.
My lot was Dandenong, Frosty Miller at FF, big Eddie Melai in the ruck, Ray Orchard on the ball, and David Droscher running FB. They used to have wars against Port, with Freddy Cook, any one of those Goss arseholes, and Boby Profitt at full back.
Rienets #36 had thighs the size of tree trunks! Bassett was unlucky with injury but could play IMO.
Frosty............starts games.
Classic VFA.
VFA on Channel 0 after World of Sport. Phil Gibbs headed the commentary team and the football was wild and very fast. Best of all it was live so the thrill of uncertainty was evident. I'd be in front of the black and white TV glued to the action while the smell of the Sunday roast chicken and veggies wafted into the loungeroom. I miss the good old days when Saturday and Sunday knew there place.

Here are highlights of the 1971 VFA grand final between Dandenong and Preston played at the Junction oval. Dandenong won.
David Dickson played for Preston in this game and then played in Carlton's grand final win the following year in '72.
Bert Thornley who was replaced at half time by Ted Hopkins in the '70 grand final also played for Preston in this game.
