I must admit the knowledge that I wouldn't be paying for the tram ride made the crowded tram an attractive option for a teenager with little money to spend.

Ahh, memories... clinging to the doorway of the packed tram, riding "on the edge" until enough people got off so I could get all the way into the tram. Feasting upon the "donuts of victory" - about $1.50 for a bag of six - not $1.50 per donut.
Those were the days.
(Geez I'm sounding like an old fart now. Oh well, if the beanie fits...)

You 100% made that up. Very clever but must be removed immediately from this retro-thread. Immediately.......

Yep, no place for text message speak in the Down Memory Lane thread. I long for the day that they sell bread and dripping at the footy....bring back the Wiks!!

Excuse me ploise, hojonuts have been a thing since I was in high school, and that's ages ago. THE TERM STANDS.
I must admit i have never heard of the term, probably a Victorian thing.

With the crime rate in Bendigo many would prefer the iced donuts.......

Also known as Isonuts.

No reflection on any of the good local folk MEB :)

Don't worry JK, I escaped many years ago and apart from the odd visit to the grandparents I don't spend a lot of time there!
