This ain't Carlton anymore.
So do I.
Feel a bit sorry for the younger supporters.
Back in the day, we were the biggest show in town. Have actually seen Carlton win 5 premierships live at the G. The best........'79, and if it was played again tomorrow would have a heart attack.
Unfortunately, we have been utterly irrelevant for the last 15 years.
Every time I think I'm out they drag me back in.....Come on Robbo, chin up fella. This thread is for memories, not to dwell on our current parlous state. For a Carlton supporter this thread is the lazy Sunday.
Every time I think I'm out they drag me back in.....

I decided to play football again from 1980 to 1983 and missed a lot of VFL footy. Saturday VFL and Saturday senior footy meant I missed most home and away games. Thinking back I was at Carlton the day Buzz took that incredible mark in front the Heatley Stand. I was at Waverley to see the Blues take down the Hawks in the Preliminary Final. David Clarke played a pretty special game that day but missed out on the premiership. I saw our premiership wins in 81 and 82. Thank you Mum. Amazing ability to gently twist arms. I remember Choco Williams kicking a goal and thinking to myself "please God, not us. We can't lose to Collingwood". Not sure why God listened as I'm not a religious man. 82 was a sensational win. Maurice Rioli, Norm Smith, give me a break! No wonder Cyril gets overinflated praise. Plenty of memories from that game. Great seats. C Section. Right next to the change rooms. Leaning over and watching the players run down the race. I love the defining moments in games of football. The defining moment for me was Marcou's goal in the last quarter. No way back for the Tiges and another premiership. Of course that goal could not have been kicked without the nous of Mark Maclure. The boy could play.Hey Robbo, remember that lazy Saturday afternoon at Princes Park back in the early 80's when we slammed on 10 goals in the premiership quarter against the Hawks......![]()
I remember him for his hairy shoulders.Good on Marcou for flying the flag, something he was not really renowned for.
Especially against Matthews. Lethal would've had him for breakfast.Good on Marcou for flying the flag, something he was not really renowned for.
No question. That took guts to do.Especially against Matthews. Lethal would've had him for breakfast.
Who was the Melbourne player he belted at the MCG?....behind the play.
He was infamous for that.
Who was the Melbourne player he belted at the MCG?
It certainly was Peter Giles.Might have been Peter Giles.
He got Cable with a forearm in a State Game at Subi, got Keith Greig at the G with a blindside, coat-hangered Bruns (off the ball) at Princes Park, Kneed Kenny Hunter at PP, blindisded Andy Ireland at Victoria Park...............his list is endless.
The last 15 years have been so goodyou pathetic old codgers living on past glories..........

It wasn't us belting people but it certainly made the games memorable.you pathetic old codgers living on past glories..........
