"Why thank-you, Norway Blue! Please give my regards to ODN, won't you? He knows about my "great hands". Much love, Reece"

Spending the bye watching the 1972 Preliminary final. God Jezza was a freak.
Jezza had played the 1972 season in the centre & was outstanding there, then the Match Committee dropped our leading goalkicker Greg Kennedy after our bad loss in the 2nd SF Replay & moved Jezza back to FF. In a demonstration of just how good he was, Jezza slotted 7 goals in both the PF & GF.

Tiggies certainly had our measure that year, until Big Nick changed things around for the Grand Final. Game was all over at half time.

My first GF. 13 yo, standing room tickets, got there before the start of the U19s GF. Ah to have a bladder that was less demanding. Those were the days.

In the PF Kennedy came on as 20th man with 5 mins to go and snuck the back breaking goal from the goal line before Jezza finished them off with his 7th.

you have no idea how much I envy you, chooker - I do recall being at the drawn second-semi at waverley (?) but not much else that series - bit of a disgrace considering it was only a lazy 45 odd years ago

I remember being amazed at the half time score.
Got bitten big time when I went in 73 though. Devastated. I still can’t forgive Neil Balme or the dog that decked Nick.

1972 was the first year I attended finals matches, my dad took me with him to all the games we played leading up to the grand final and I assumed I would be going to the grand Final as well.

Dad ended up going with one of his friends and there was no ticket for me, I was dirty on him for a long time.

In 1973 I decided to do the early arrival at the MCG thing (at the age of 12), getting a standing room ticket from the salvos (they always had tickets available for a small donation). The result of that match made me even dirtier on missing out the year before.

I did the same thing every year from 73-80, 1981 was the first year I had a seat,
never did standing room again, lol.

I was there and started getting on the grog at the the 20 minute mark of the first Quater.

The effing Lodge, copious amounts of wine, run amuck.

Chipping in guys.

Deadset cracker of a video and one hell of a story.

Funny ****er is Alex Marcou.

Could listen to his stories about the time for ages.

Self indulging for a bit but I have a few links to Carlton.

First, it was the team I was born into.

Second, my cousins go for Carlton as their 1st cousin once removed (their dad's cousin) is Adrian Gallagher.
These cousins' pop was Adrian's uncle.

Third, I found out on Ancestry that I had a 3rd-great uncle-in-law Albert Bickford playing 2 games for Carlton and his wife was my 3rd-great aunt.

Then, later on, I'd find out I had a 3rd cousin twice removed who played for Hawthorn called Leon Rice and Adrian Gallagher were opponents in some games.

Who'd've thought that a great-granddaughter of a Brunswick resident with Princes Park virtually around the corner from that house would marry a cousin of a Carlton great?

Sidenote: Albert Bickford's sister Alice married Rod McGregor.
