Neale Daniher kicked 4 goals in the last quarter, from memory.

The only other instance I am aware of such a free kick being paid was in the 1949 VFA GF. According to my late grandfather, an Oakleigh player was penalised for time wasting & from the resultant free kick, Williamstown took the ball forward & kicked a goal to hit the front just moments before the final siren sounded.

For all intents & purposes Robinson should have called Fitzpatrick to play on, but grandstanding was more his style (think Razor Ray multiplied by 10), hence the free kick being paid against Fitzpatrick.
people don't get how good n. daniher was........

Denis O’Sullivan
/QUOTE]
Was coached by Denis at Kyneton, lovely bloke, old school coach who I remember would put his teeth in his pocket before his address.
Brother of Shane if I recall correctly.

Time wasting, about 7-8 years ago v Adelaide at the G, Jarrod Waite punched the ball from a shot on goal which then went into the crowd. He was about a metre behind the goal line at the time. The umpire awarded another kick to Adelaide with out the ball going back to the centre-for time wasting???

Having caught up on the Bluemour Discussion Thread, I've been browsing the Footywire website. having recently discovered it now has match stats dating back to 1965. So far I have gone through all of our games from 1965 & 1966. In doing so I have come across a number of Carlton players who I had not been aware of as follows:
Roger Hoggett
Greg Hardie
Denis O'Sullivan
Barry Schmidt
Stan Harrison
Max Thomas
Gil Lockhart
Paul Constance
Dick Vandenburg
Peter Gilbert

I am in the process of going through the wonderful Blueseum site to read their bios, but I wonder how many of our posters, particularly those older than me, have heard of these Carlton players.
So while Chief was fixing BF's "Bad Gateway" I took the opportunity to head to the Blueseum & look at the bios for these & a few other players from that era & came across some interesting tidbits.

Most of these players only played a handful of games between 1963 & 1965 before moving on or being moved on. Their opportunities were limited further by being named as 19th or 20th man & getting minimal game time.

Dick Vandenburg is a distant cousin of ex-Hawk Richie Vandenburg.

Of some other players I looked at:
Tony Thiessen is the father of Crows 1998 premiership player James Thiessen.
Doug Ringholt became a very good blue water sailor, participating in a number of Sydney-Hobart yacht races, including as a crew member on one of Alan Bond's yachts.
John Williams (circa 1961) is the father of Mark Williams, who older Carlton supporters will remember running around in the #39 guernsey for us in the '80s.

I shall continue my journey through the years 1960 & prior & see what other obscure Carlton players I unearth.

Also mediumsizered, current AFLW player Tiahna Cochrane is the great-niece of Trevor Keogh.

Okay this is the time of year this thread comes into its own.

Time for some memories. I invite everyone to share their favourite Carlton memory. Can be a game, an event or an issue.

Mine was round 3, 1993. Sticks redemption.

The week before he put it out on the full after the siren to draw with Essendon.

The following week we played the Hawks on a hot Easter Monday. I stood on the hill in front of the scoreboard with a big crowd at Princes Park. We were behind and from memory Rohan Welsh kicked one to bring us back. Sticks then marked with not long to go. He went back and kicked the goal to put us in front. We held on to win by a couple of points.

Love the Blueseum!

But Mark Williams - this particualr Mark Williams was once the Sandy Coach and also Melbourne assistant coach from memory.

Stupid personal memory but as a young man I remember being excited by the arrival of Peter Turner. Having seen him not used in his first game I wrote to David Parkin during the week and told him to use Turner as a defensive runner on opposition ruckmen. The next week this happened for a good 35 seconds and I was super excited in my ability to influence great AFL coaches.

That was Turner's last game too.

wonder if he knows you ended his career.....

Other than the 99 Prelim, this has to be one of my favorites

Also Beaumont kicking 8 in a first half and then complaining about how he didnt like being a forward.

I went to both those games. Reckon I was 5 beers in when Madden kicked that one.

Beaumont was playing on Luke Godden that day.

Mine goes back to 1975. Finally convinced Chris Pavlou that I deserved a game for Carlton u19s. Had to cool my heels as I was on the bench. We were playing * at Princes Park.

Finally got my call up during the orange time break. I was feeling angry and elated at the same time.

We were kicking to the Heatley Stand end. It was one of those days where the wind was howling across the ground but the sun was shining.

Right. I was playing forward something I could do but I preferred to play on the ball.

Two crumbing opportunities fell my way and Robbo kicked two goals. Take that I thought to myself. That will convince the coach.

Playing footy I don’t think I could have been any happier. I was on my way.

There were other opportunities and I did OK but a couple of months later me and Crozza featured in an article in the Football Record. We were referred to as grasshoppers. Guys who had been cleared to another team before the 30 June deadline.

What could have been? I still have those conversations in my head and it’s been over 40 years. Since I could remember I had dreamed of playing for Carlton. It was looking pretty good until Bill Hoogan left and was replaced by Chris Pavlou.
