Was wondering in highlights whom the big idiot was in front half. Guess this must have been a rare game Easton got a game for us. Seems like Maclure was injured this game,

players in those days look like grown men. Nowaday's players look like teenagers.

Get to see one of our interstate recruits that never really made it. Montgomery...
Interesting that Greg Wells playing in this but I think he retired some time during the season as he was not there in 1982 finals series.
Also Ross Ditchburn whom was our new full forward for that season had not played yet. Swingman Peter McConville playing full forward in round one team. Geez, we had a versatile team in these times when guys like Hunter and McConville could play either end so well.
Never get sick of seeing footage of Bruce Doull in these videos. Convinced he is best defender I have seen.

Great times in the Spring of '82.

Blues dominant with our famous 3rd quarter bursts.

Started the first of 33 seasons of cricket for the same suburban club.

Thirdly, and least relevant at the time, bumbled my way through HSC exams. I'm sure I would have been a rocket surgeon had Carlton been shit....

One of the few games I went to on my own was the '82 Granny. Got there at Dawn's crack, beautiful spot on the wing in the front row of standing room under the southern stand, read the record 42 times, watched U19's and magoos, ball about to be bounced in the big one and.......needed a wee.
By the time I got back, battered and bruised from the jostling, I couldn't work out WTF had happened to Ditchburn?

Can also confirm that I was there. Top deck of the old Olympic stand. The whole thing was surreal. Jezza's last goal bounced through from about 25 yards out and the place went ballistic.

Not sure if it is true but its been mentioned a few times that Carlton tragic Andy Maher was seen at pub standing on a chair singing the carlton song early in the last qtr of that game before Brisvegas came back and beat us.

I want to know what happened to the part of my brain that holds the memories from Sept 1970.

I was 6, doing Prep at school. I already loved footy and Carlton. I had collected the set of scanlen's footy cards that year - still remember the picture they made up on the back - Big Nick with his arms spread wide, up against Richmond ruck from '69 GF (Craig McKellar?). I also remember collecting all the team stickers from the Ampol servos. I remember the moon landing and stuff from Kinder in 1969. I read and re-read later about the game in the Courage Book of VFL Finals. I even remember being disappointed St. Kilda didn't win in 1971.

But I have absolutely no f**king recollection of listening live, watching replay later etc. Nothing, nada, f**k all. Where is it? Either I was suffering PTSD from the first half, or I was abducted by aliens.

On a different note, I run a small motel on the Murray. About a year ago (when people were allowed to actually come and stay) I met a couple of older blokes here for a Lawn Bowls comp (I think - might have been golf). Chatted with both independently and worked out they were Carlton supporters. They didn't know each other, but it turned out they had both been at the 1968 GF and had been sitting close to each other in the Northern Stand. Small world sometimes!

Loved the old Olympic stand watched many a game from there... 95 GF was lucky enough to be there with a huge group of friends and mates on the top deck fantastic place to watch a game from, stand packed full of memories ...

Watched the 99PF from there. Best thing was it was mixed. So many previously smug Essendon supporters leaving bitter and twisted. Ecstasy.
