King is the leader of our team. He is 202cm and 105kg, why should'nt he be crashing into packs making himself felt against the opposition, like Gary Ablett does every week, even though he is half his size.

I rate King very highly, but this year he has been awful. If he is injured, then dont play. Rest up and get ready for next year because this year we are pretending. You cannot get respect from teams after getting beatin by Collingwood, Fremante, Bulldogs & Essendon.

If King was not soft (this year only) he would actually compete in the ruck dual, rather the running around the opposition and attempting to avoid contact whilst obtaining an easy stat. He should take a note out of Damien Bourkes book and actually make a contest!
It is clear we have very differing opinions. King cant crash and bash for the simple fact he will do more damage if he does. If he supplies the midfielders with quality taps like he did in the weekend then I am happy because that is one area where we have generally struggled.

If you were telling me to 'go and get.ucked" as you put it, as i was clapping my team off, I would have knocked your ar$e out to put in bluntly. If you are a real supporter, you would accept the fact that your team has up and downs, unfortunatly, the last 9 weeks we have struggled.
To be honest I am not too sure if many people heard me tell them to get ********ed, there were 2-3 people who looked in my direction and continued clapping them off. I am not one to normally go off at fellow supporters but frustration got the better of me Friday night after seeing our fans clap our players off the ground after they just ended our season and any chance we had on 2005.

You say Shannon Brynes was soft and fumbled, yet you say Tennace was good. Whilst i agree with what part of you say, Tennace was good at finding the ball, his ball use was shocking again. He needs to work on his skills.

If i were picking the team, i would take Byrnes of Tennace every time. Tennace lets himself down with his kicking, Byrnes on the other hand has wonderful skill... Remember his Debut? Have you even seen Tennace kick a pressure goal from outside 50 from a setshot? The answer is no. He fumbles, handballs, passes off, etc because he lacks confidence is his kicking.
I do remember Shannon Byrnes debut, and I dont doubt his talent, but this year has hasnt shown it, maybe its just 2nd year blues. I have noticed over most of the season that when the ball is in dispute and he tries to pick it up he more often than not wont pick it up cleanly and will fumble it, resulting in a turnover and a throw in/ball up. There was one occasion on Friday Night when Tenace ran flat out at the ball and picked it up with one grab. It was fantastic to see. Whilst talking about players and debuts, do you remember Tenace's last year vs Carlton? Remember that goal? How about the goal vs Freo when he ran the length of the wing for a goal. He did the same of Friday Night when he set up GAJ. The boy has immense talent and can kick on both feet, Shannon cant.

If you are a real supporter
I am a real supporter, dont question me on that. I have been to every game this year, in fact I havent missed a game since Pt Adelaide in the H&A season last year. I have seen us week in week out, I go to the AFL and VFL every weekend. Dont question me on being a real supporter.

Does clapping my team off after incipid efforts and saying "all will be good" when we are perilously close to slipping out of the Top 8 make me a real supporter?

Dasher39,

Although i agree with some things you say, I disagree with alot. So maybe we can agree to disagree? With saying that, I still Beleive the Steven King should make his body play felt around the club because that is what leaders are for. To fly the flag for the team and show leadership.

The perfect example of this was on the half time siren at the weekend, Steve Johnson cops a punch strait to the jaw and the skip comes in and pulls a jumper and pushes one person (McViegh from memory - huge effort) and it was left to Cameron Mooney (as usual) to stick up for his players. I understand it is not the captains position to go in and smash players and get reported because that would defeat the purpose of a captain (if he was not on the field) but surely King should be in their sticking up for his team mates, showing that he has their back regardless of what the situation.

I also was very frustrated by the result on Friday night, but i would not tell fella passionate supporters where to go for clapping their beloved team off the ground. I clap particular players off, e.g Gazza, Ling, Milburn who give their all every dam week.

The difference between Tenace's goals and Byrnes, is the skill involved. I am not doubting the tenance has speed to burn and could be a fantastic footballer for our club for a number of years (i hope he is), he just needs to work on his skills. Take the goal againsts fremantle for example. He should have had a shot at goal from about 45m, but instead was not confident and handballed it of to Gazza, put Gaz under pressure and luckily Gazza being gazza, got the handball off back off to Tenace who just snuck it home from 20m out. Byrnes would have put it through from 45m first time, that is the diffence. Tenace does not have confidence in his ability. Byrnes does!

I must apologizze for questioning your loyalty, that was wrong. I was just angry with some of your comments, even so i would still like to give you a back hander for telling supporters where to go. No halm done though. We are just both passionate supporters with different opinions of particular matters but in the end are after the same thing. A flag!

Have you attended every single game this year? You have beat me. I have been to Every Victorian game and the Sydney game. If you went to Subu, AAMI and the Gabba. Well done!

You raise a good point about Kane's confidence, which is why I would like him in the side week in week out to get that confidence. A few more games like Friday night should see that confidence grow!

The bolded part is very true, we are very passionate supporters who want the same thing, just disagree on certain points which is what happens when passionate people get together!

Indeed I have been to all games this year. Canberra (Wiz Cup), Subi, AAMI, the Gabba, SCG been to them all and if we have to travel for finals will do that also!

That is if we make the finals.. No garantee with the way we are travelling.

Least we dont have to argue about King anymore. He is out for the year. I doubt it is because of a finger either. I think there is more to it than meets the eye.

I must congratulate you on travelling with the team. Are you in the cheer squad or something?

True we arent guaranteed finals yet, so IF...

How many weeks left in the season, 4! James Hird broke a finger and missed one game, which was also due to the flu. If King is out for the year then that would make it an 8 week injury (4 weeks of finals). So I am with you, I doubt its JUST a broken finger!

I am in the CS, but make my own way to the games Interstate! And to dispell a popular myth, no CS members dont get discounted travel. I still have to pay full price airfares and tickets to the game!

Lets hope it is just a finger and he is back in two weeks. It would be good to have him against West Coast. Big Cox and Gardiner will provide a handfull for us.

If you are in the cheerquad, do you have pom poms?

I'll probably be with him at Werribee on Sunday! CG is from Ballarat, so he says he doesnt feel the cold and he aclimatises to it!

Gotta love his passion though!

I also noticed he was absent. I was keeping an eye out for him, but to no avail.

The Chant Guy is fine! We can all breath easy now :p

Was talking to him at the game Friday Night and he had work, that no matter how hard he tried, he couldnt get out of. I can tell you he was VERY upset at missing the game!

I've texted Denis and asked him to come onto this board and discuss the letter if he cares to. Interesting to see if he responds.

He rang me about 10 mins after i sent the text. He said he has had a number of sms' all being positive about his letter. I suggested he come onto the site and have a look at this thread....however he said he doesn't have the internet at home. He copied down the address and said he'd try and get a look at some stage....so it's probrably doubtful he'll be on here anytime soon.

Everything mate. When you get to high school, you might get introduced to them.

I will be at the Geelong V Melbourne, West Coast & Richmond Games as well as the Dome this Friday night. Maybe we should have a little meeting so i can set you strait.

You clearly have no valid points to offer this forum, why dont you leave? I have not seen one person who actually values your input. Your friends dont even like you.

In the mean time, dont talk down to me. I finished high school five years ago and i am clearly more intelligent than you will ever be. I would find it difficult to believe that you have any education, let along a VCE pass. I have a feeling you have achieved a level of education that permits you too fill out your centrelink applications only.

You really are a fool.

JUBJUB what was it like not having friends at school?
For God's sake, is this crap really necessary?

Sorry for being the kid who really had no friends that takes offence at this, but it's juvenile and really not clever. FYI, it sucked not to have any friends at school, thanks for bringing it up.

Now go on, take a cheap shot at me about how you're always the one getting picked on and you're just defending yourself or some other rubbish.

I don't care. Take a leaf out of the book of the supporters that maturely agree to disagree in this very thread, and leave the petty low blows and in-fighting to other people.
