I noticed Aph wandered in and closed the needs based drafting thread, but before she did, there were a few who voiced their support of it. I've gotta say, I used to like coming to the Carlton board for a good read and newly posted threads were a part of that. Now every time I come here it just seems like the same old ones at the top of the page getting longer and longer. Sometimes they require wading through a trough of unrelated chatter - or as one poster noted ... a monkey with massive cojones :D - before you get to the relevant part and it detracts from the read IMO.

For me, new threads are refreshing and seem to refresh discussions, sometimes refracting them into smaller focuses; shorter, but sharper. I understand it makes it easier to moderate, and I do appreciate the voluntary work mods do on our board, but I'm definitely not a fan of the way threads are closed on this board anymore. Some may prefer it this way - and that's fine, we all have our different tastes - but I'm just wondering if I'm a lone head here, or if anyone thinks similarly to me?

Shocked and appalled.

That you don't feel megathreads are a good thing.

Next he will be saying he does not like Mega Stores!
I for one cannot wait until the only choice we have is Coles or Woolies cereal, milk, bread, sausages, spaghetti, salmon, detergent, ............ It will remind me of London

Bulls-eye.

Many key issues can get lost very quickly in a Mega-thread and dismissed without proper or in-depth discussion.
Actually, I find it rather odd just how few threads there are fired up these days.
That's it................a best 22 is on my agenda tomorrow. :D

Seriously though, I agree with Monkey King.
without looking, i'm almost positive you would have started one of the mega threads :D

EDIT: Trade week/month thread. It's all on you Harks! [/40yb]

Simple really. Just make your topic stand alone. Threads about who each poster thinks we should get in a trade or draft don't do much to stand out and we run the risk of having a page of individual theories on the same topic. There are only a few threads at the top because there is nothing else happening. We will have a look at distinct threads though as soon as I get.a moment away from midnight feeds and nappies and I can stop typing on my mobile. Eldest daughter keeps stealing my laptop.

Sort your priorities out ODN :D:p

Have frequented this site much less this year and mega threads have contributed to that (as has a very heavy uni workload but that's besides the point). When you do have little time to browse, it's good to jump on, have a quick browse over thread titles to find the relevant news and rumours, maybe a quick post here or there.

Now I come on and I'm confronted with multi-thousand long post threads with no obvious entry point, having to trawl through pages of irrelevance to get the info I'm after. Injury mega thread is particularly annoying - surely information so pertinent deserves a thread of its own?
