Re: Downgrade options and trading

Need a defender down grade, got both Nason and Schmidt on the bench looking too offload 1 of them. A forward down grade would be good as well, probably Rockliff as Gumby has better JS. Once those are done I want to do Trengove > Sandilands/Cox.

Right now i'm regretting downgrading to JKT earlier in the season. Downgraded Trengove to Armstrong the other week and will need to keep him or 4-5 weeks to let his price mature.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

was .. this close to grabbing power last week....

still massively undervalued IMO and could make a great 6th mid.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Job Security

speaking of job security, how long until Connors returns for the Tiges?

With trades dwindling I'd be very happy with him as my 7th mid at sub 200k.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Given the complete lack of downgrade options, am considering trading in Campbell Heath for Silvagni. Anyone seen him play, think he has good JS?

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Positive signs for O'Keefe on the north board. He got interviewed after the game, loved it and wants more so his obviously enthusiastic. The general concensus is that he lead well, presented well and is a natural forward. Had a few first game jitters infront of goal which is natural but they rekon he is very promising and has earned himself a few more games at least. North had some pritty big inclusions this week and his managed to hold his spot! Any north supporters that can add or shed any more light on this? Perhaps his JS isnt to bad??

his js aint too bad. seeing as he kept his spot with the inclusion on petrie (permanent forward) it looks like he will be given every opportunity.. all comes down to his performances really. warren would be the front runner to take his spot but he isnt doing to much in the 2's. im thinking 7-9 games out of him for the season.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Armstrong got dropped the week he got 123 so I'm still not certain he won't get axed for Vince this week. Time will tell.

Also, Jizzberts looks like a sexy downgrade in two weeks for everyone, especially JKT owners who don't want to royally **** up a trade again.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Does anyone think that Gysberts is gonna get solid game time from here out? You'd obviously be mad to pick him up this week, however once he's up for game 3, he would have to be a serious consideration by a lot of people to make some $$$.

Just don't want to see him dropped back to the rookie list or something like that.

Vince is injured, plus even when hes full fit, he will be serving a 1 game suspension in the SANFL.. i very much doubt Armstrong will be dropped this week

True but someone has to come out for Edwards this week, I know Bock's out injured.

I also think Schmidt will get cut before Armstrong

Re: Downgrade options and trading

N.O'Keefe's job security may be abit firmer now that Petrie has broken his other foot.........
Agreed. I was tossing up whether or not to get NOK until I heard the news about The Dish. Gutted as a North fan but the silver lining is in DT where I think he'll be able to hold his spot at least until Petrie returns. Bon has showed a willingness to back our kids in even if they have displayed patchy form (think Sam Wright). NOK is still very raw but has shown promising signs in his two games to date. I suspect Bon will be more patient with him and less patient with the likes of Hale & Edwards if they have poor games. NOK will hopefully make a bit of cash by which time TDL will emerge later on in an ideal world.

Missed out on playfair due to afl.com roughting me last week. Hopefully O'keefe is just as good.

Is Heath the best option for Nason at the moment? If he's not named should I trade for Davies instead?

Help: I get the feeling many trades are of the knee jerk type. Trading on a once off blinder, or going under the false pretence that named for a third game is enough. When really you should bring in the best option regardless... What's the difference in getting dropped after 3 games instead of 2? Failed logic IMO unless your looking for scoring potential insight. Right? :p

Are you guys waiting for a 3rd game just to concrete your selection descision. Or does 3 games mean a higher likely hood of 9-10 games also?

Re: Downgrade options and trading

You'd expect we'll see at least a few good downgrade options in the next 3 weeks with the second lot of nominated rookies coming up.

Information is key when it comes to rookie so waiting for a 3rd game is massive. Also it will guarantee that you have at least 1 price rise.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

I would think Heath is a certain player to get this week. Than Gysberts the next week and also look at Mcneil very soon if using DP.

There are 3 players that im pretty certain to pick very soon.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Not sure if I like the look of Heaths job security DWD.
Gysberts might be a little better, and play more games, but while I have Broughton on my bench I'm banking on him to recover, by which time I plan to get Gilbert for Maguire.
Webberly and Davis will probably cover my backs.

Firstly why is that?

I haven't looked at syndeys injury report because it says TBC:thumbsdown:. But i would love to know how far away a few of their injured backs are Kennelly, Bolton ect. The thing i like is that Heath seems like he can just about play on any forward. In the Sydney lineup he seems to be taking the oppo smalls.

(Gysberts) After the impressive debut you would think they would give this guy some time to develop. Will watch his second game closely. But if hes played 2 games, scored avg of 75+ and is named for his 3rd, who will pass this guy up?? Has also been named emergency on plenty of occasions which is also important in the decision.

Its all very situational and depends on the durability of your 22, strength of your cover/bench already and whether or not DP is being used.

Gysberts was a first round draft pick, he never was on the rookie list. The only noticable person to take his position would be Blease, who is listed as 2 weeks away.

wouldnt put it past Craig, the guy is an idiot. though with the club no chance of finals i would imagine Armstrong has better security now.

Played his second game last weekend.

Personally I think there are some big question marks over his job security, but if he's your D9 with a bit of luck you might be able to carry the risk.

Sorry i was talking about Gysberts. My post made no sense before.:p

O'keefe out. Awsome. Now missing out on Playfair is just plain *$&%ed.
What are people doing now?

I have Gumbleton and Rockliff on the bench. 14 trades left with 4-5 downgrades still to make.

1. Campbell Heath for nason (most probably)
2. Howlett for Gysberts (most probably)
3. Rockiff for some gun rookie elevated in Rd 12 (Hopefully)
4. Gumbleton > ........... Some port guy maybe. I still forget his name.

Completely stuck on the last 2. Every option it seems has fell through. People talk of the rookie elevation after round 11 but does this mean that any will even get a game? If they were wouldn't they already be on the seniors list?

I don't plan on playing any rookies on the field in my league finals, let alone 2 in one position. I know you should always try and bring in players that are going to score points, but what I guess I'm asking is can't you afford to have some 77k dead weight on the bench, given you have the trades left at the end of the season?

If I hold off like I should, i'm concerned either or all of these will happen:
(A) No better downgrade options will come
(B) My cash cows (gumby ect.) will drop in value
(C) My upgrade options will rise in price

Given those arguments should I:
1. Trade for the bubble players with minimal JS, end up with weak/no cover but max cash and bargan upgrades.

2. Keep some cover (1 of Gumbleton or Rockliff) and hope gysberts makes some cash so I can downgrade him instead?

3. Keep Both Gumbleton and Rockliff, let the bargan upgrade options sail, cash cows turn sour, and hope 2 other rookies with (even better)* JS come along.

*Yeah right

I know this breaks all my rules but I'm actually thinking of getting NOK this week despite him being dropped. I have cover so won't cop a zero and there are a few comments on the North board about him being a late inclusion. That would really annoy everyone. The North board seem to be full of nothing but praise for him. I really need the cash to do an upgrade this week to give me a chance in my league game...

It's either that or Gram to Heath. I had planned on sticking with Gram on the bench but he's still 4 weeks away. Decision, decisions...
