Downgrade targets

I'm sure plenty are in the same boat as me with some excellent scoring rookies in recent weeks - I have Bastinac, Howlett, Rockliff and Nason - and all will be ready to cash in soon. Martin, Fyfe, Trengove also scoring well.

At this stage of the game i'm not interested in trading down to a guy who will make me money. These four are my final cash cows. Got some mid-rangers to then upgrade.

I want to trade in a cheapie who will likely play out the season as bench cover. Other than Gysberts, any thoughts on guys to watch out for over the next 6-8 weeks?

Yeah Gysberts is the one i'm keeping my eye on.

Griffiths got injured didn't he against Port? Might avoid that one unless he comes back soon and can avg around 50 or so.

I don't think there will be all that many new players coming in, seems a lot of clubs have dealt their hand for the most part unless injuries ravage teams or something it could be few and far between new comers?

This is not for a downgrade target though, more for bench cover as I have Shuey and JKT on the bench.

Is JKT > Gysberts a bad move with only 6 trades left or should I just wait till Shuey comes back?

Yeah I have been very lucky with injuries this year mate compared to last year.

I feel uncomfortable with no midfield bench cover as I have back and forward bench cover and a near complete team barr 2-3 upgrades (Waters > Fisher, Maguire > Gilbee and maybe Gumby > Roo. Have Fyfe as 7th forward at the moment)

What to do?

People know that I love to trade and I went hammer and tongs to build my team up to as many premiums as possible. LOL!

am ranked 200 overall.

I honestly don't mind not trading for another 6 weeks, just requires alot of discipline which I think I can do subject to the non believers out there. Ha! Ha!

Yep I'm one of the non-believers..

However, Gysbert isn't such a bad idea (next week) if he runs riot this weekend....it's be a bonus if JKT has increase in value...

Yeh this is an interesting move i've been contemplating myself.

With Banner spudding it up like a pile of poo on my mid bench and Shuey sick as a mule, I have no mid bench cover, which is annoying for late withdrawals like last week.

I have quite a few MPP forwards: ROK, Boomer, Higgins, Goodes and with Fyfe notching up 90's on the bench, it got me thinking: should I trade Banner-McNeill, then swap one of these MPP into the midfield, chuck McNeil on the FWD bench and bring on Fyfe, and put Martin on the Mid bench as EMG...

I guess it ends up being: Martin playing (+1 trade, -bench cover) vs Fyfe playing (+bench cover, -1 trade)...

Hmmm....

Yup, I think that is what I'm going to be doing. I wanna get Chappy in next week, but don't have the resources to get him into my forward line (i.e. I can afford a Trengrove to Chappy trade, but not a Gumby to Chappy trade). I feel that Chapman will be a waste stuck in my midfield though as good forwards are few and far between this year.

For this reason, I was going to get Chappy in my midfield by doing the Trengrove to Chapman swap, and also do a Hitchcock to McNeil swap in the forward line. Then, when I have some more money, I would use the MPP ability to swap Chapman to the forward line and McNeil to the Midfield. I could then turn McNeil into a Premium mid.

Does that make sense? And is this a good idea or is there something I'm missing... I have a feeling there is a flaw with this plan somewhere.

At this point MMP M6 candidates would most likely be Gilbee or Goodes who I feel could boost my team until my last upgrade is needed.

mcneil is better suited to being m8 and using that cash to upgrade someone else to a premium...... ive got rohan and howlett as mid bench and doubt that howlett will get a game from now on..... he has risen to 300k so is worth cashing in on later in the season to upgrade either waters or rockliff

Yeah, read up, that is my plan with Chapman (I think?); a temporary M6. Sounds like a good plan, you just need to have other MPPs in your forward/defence lines obviously.

Due to Howletts omission has forced me to trade him. Looking at upgrading him.

That means I need to downgrade Maguire.

Heath, Roberton or someone else yet to debut the best bet?

What other defenders do you have, what's your cash situation like? Who else do you have on the bench in the midfield? Do you have cover other than Howlett? If not, Gysberts is a good option.

Defenders = Goddard, Hodge, Macleski, Gilbee, Shaw, Hurn, Enright (Maguire, Webberley)

Midefield = Ablett, Montagna, Swan, Selwood, Barlow, Howlett (Shuey, Banner)

$60k cash.

Howlett to Gysberts would stop a donut but would need him to increase in price (wait a few weeks before upgrading)

If I get rid of Maguire, I can get Judd. Possibly trade in Gysberts next week for Banner as cover.

Hence I'm looking at Heath, Roberton. (Heath might not come back in, still Kennelly, Bolton, McGlynn and Roberton might not play as Freo will play finals and he is nowhere near best 22)

Or someone left of centre like Ashley Smith from WCE. They WILL play kids cause they won't make finals.

Ah ok i see where you are coming from, Maguire is definitely too expensive to be sitting on the bench with the defenders you have i'd say! I'd downgrade.

You midfield is awesome at the moment, adding Judd would really strike fear into any league opponent, but i'd really go with that, bring in Judd for now and if you still have a few trades up your sleeve, bring in Gysberts next week for cover. It doesn't look like Banner is going to get a game any time soon.
