Sometimes sideways trading is the way to go actually. eg - gary ablett jnr after gc suns 2nd bye. Also now that Collingwood have had their 2nd bye.

I'd be surpised if the likes of Swan and/or Pendlebury weren't traded IN a fair bit for this week onwards.

I went Atley to Ablett and Conca to Pendlebury this season. Mere simpletons like me thought it would be better to free up cash in the rounds beforehand so I could increase my number of premiums on field, rather than staying at the same amount through sideways trading.

Am I doing it wrong?

He's planning Watson-Stanton?!

He's obviosuly not worried by the fact that Stanton has been carrying an injured shoulder for several weeks, has missed games with it this year and still has one bye to go this season.

Obviously not keen to get G Ablett or Thomas into his team, 2 guns with no byes left.

Could easily do Hibberd-Callinan (after swapping Goddard-Hibberd into mids) and Watson-Ablett...

Then that gives him a MID/FWD link that he currently doesn't have...

Am I missing something

His slide into mediocrity is gaining momentum. Why would anyone trade out an Essendon premium only to then trade an Essendon premium back into their team at this point in the season?!? It is beyond fathomable..........unless he has conceeded he wont make a GF in any league and by Rd24 his team will be a complete shambles so it won't really matter.

According to the Famous Coaches thread, he still had 10 trades left before the weekend (so possibly 8 now), which is an okay number I suppose and gives him some flexibility. I definitely think he can and should do better than Watson ---> Stanton!

Maybe he's being crap on purpose so Joe Somebody who finishes at around 20k can think 'wow, I did nearly as good as Dr Dream Team! I'm clearly a natural, I should take this up again next year'. It's the only explanation I can think of.

Yeah, I have eight trades left too, but I've improved my team.

This bloke is the first I have ever come across to use 3 trades on 1 player (Watson), and we're only just passed 1/2 way. LOL

Seriously, has any1 ever used 3 trades on 1 player in 1 season b4?

I beleive;

Watson to Boyd
Boyd to Watson
Watson to now what looks like Stanton

Perhaps he is an Essendon supporter who just can't not have a bombers player in his midfield??

I believe he justified watson over stanton due to better signs in the preseason and captaincy making him awesome. Then justified the boyd trade as he missed the bye and jumped on boyd (@ max-ish price). Then obviously justifies the stanton trade as he was considering him in the preseason and he's at an OK price.

I don't think the Doc has taken into account the fact that essendon are fading, nor that they have a bye coming up that will kill him. Still it's not a horrible trade. It's just not a practical trade.

What, so people who finish around 20k should just give up?

He may have 8 or 10 trades left, but if you look at his original team (black), he has barely made in forward progress at all in his current team (red) for all those 14 - 16 trades used. His theory of sideways trading premiums to avoid a zero instead of using bench cover has been shown to be flawed as most here would have expected.

Goddard, Gibbs, Grimes, Deledio, Shaw, Otten, Heppell, Toy, Duigan, Lower
Gibbs, Deledio, Shaw, Adcock, Lower, Duigan, Hibberd, Otten, Jacobs, Toy
Swan, Boyd, Pendlebury, Dal Santo, Curnow, Hibberd, D.Swallow, Harris, I.Smith
Swan, Boyd, Pendlebury, Dal Santo, Murphy, Watson, Heppell, Goddard, Wallis
Sandilands, Ryder, J.Tippett, McCauley
Cox, Ryder, J.Tippett, McCauley
Franklin, Green, Goodes, N.Reiwoldt, A.Krakeour, Petrie, Darling, Prestia, Matera
Franklin, Fyfe, Goodes, J.Reiwoldt, Sylvia, Petrie, Higgins, Lynch, Howe, Dalhaus

DEF: traded out Grimes for Adcock, but no other changes except shuffling players to the midfield.
MID: Murphy and Watson were good upgrades, but the sideways trading of Boyd to get Watson was awful. The decision to swap Watson for Stanton will further compound this as he will need to burn yet another trade come finals.
RUC: no change
FWD: Punted Green early - sideways trade to I suspect Fyfe, swapped the Voldts (questionable but OK I guess) but has got Sylvia and Higgins as upgrades I guess.

So possibly 4 upgrades? Not very effective use of trades IMO.

I'm not very good at this game, but even I've overtaken him.......

Not really an expert is he ????
