I would prefer literally anyone then Smith.
I just think that Smith might surprise everyone.

Has a lot more upside than most in this draft and can only benefit from being in an AFL system.

He has had a difficult time in his journey to WAFL and can hardly have benefited much from the Perth FC development programme.

Cal Twomey said this about our later picks:
"[R]ealistically, there are three or four options for the Eagles as I've said all along. At 32 there'll be more options, however they have been linked to Mitch McGovern. At 51, Damien Cavka could be a show, while Clem Smith is also in the frame then. The Eagles will decide on the night whether to use No.69 on a player or to officially list Alec Waterman as a father-son."

I'm really out of the loop this year but I dont understand this at all. We have committed to Waterman and will be drafting him? What am I missing.

You're right. Not sure what Twomey is getting at.

Picks 11, 32, 51, 69 are all live. Pick 87 and 105 will be used on Waterman and Sinclair respectively.

I guess we could list Waterman at 69 and save a pick for the PSD, or even just take an extra rookie and leave a spot on the main list for Newman/McGuinness if they impress in the preseason. Weirdly worded though.

Brain fade! Not you, him. Waterman is ours - probably at our later pick 87 isn't it? Leaves us with 4 live picks + Waterman + Sinkers upgrade. Lucas may or may not be pick 69

I just have this feeling about De Goey. If he becomes a genuine midfielder I think he could be an absolute star.

Behind Cockatoo, I think he projects the highest of our options at 11. He'd be my second choice, but really I'd be happy with any of Cockatoo, JDG, Weller or even Lever.

I agree, I love Degoey's attack on the footy and has a tonne of class.

Cant believe soo many votes for Clem Smith at 32 he should be around at our 3rd pick maybe our 4th pick

No one would have picked that last year or at the start of this year.

Incredible that he's dropped so low in rankings, but great for us! He's the back pocket we've been wanting and waiting for!

I think he's very talented and will thrive once in the AFL system. He has a strong desire to succeed and is incredibly competitive.

With the quality of players available at all our picks, this draft has the potential to be like our 2008 (Naitanui Shuey) & 2010 (Gaff Darling Lycett) - where we grab 2-3 players who become A graders and the core of our next premiership campaign.

Question is "Who WILL we pick", not who you want us to pick. I'm guessing a combo of Keitel and Smith will be our 2nd/3rd, not sure in which order. Less about my opinion on prospects, more on opinion on WCE recruiting.

Couldn't agree more. It says things about our recruiting department if we end up grabbing him with pick 32.

And if he doesn't last until our 3rd pick then meh

Its funny how people on this board seem to have their emotions magnified.

Cockatoo/Laverde and the hype kept building and people popping their cookies left right and centre.
Clem Smith is the 2nd coming of the next antichrist @pick 32.

He was highly rated for a reason and I think personally I think he's worth it, however he wouldn't be my favourite at that pick dependant on who was left on the board.

I personally think Rainbow is over rated, his kicking is good but not elite.
Not a fan of his kicking action, tends to pull his leg across the body and with less time to execute, will get found out.
Nowhere near a Hurn level.
