AFL loves a predetermined outcome. I have no doubt that they sat at a table with us trying to sus out our explicit intentions for the trade and draft period and then engineered the picks they think would achieve that.

Also surprised other clubs are so upset. They're END of first round picks. It's really not going to affect the draft order and thus Integrity of the draft that much.

How does this relate to us getting Sanders now that he is a part of our NGA Academy? No mention of us being able to match a pick on him within the first 40 picks, which if we are able to, we could use a combination of these and other picks to get him.

I see the approval of the NGA stuff as just the first step. Ie we can't ask the AFL to give us priority access to him through our NGA unless he is in the NGA. Step 1 get approval to include him. Step 2 Apply to have access as part of our PP. Step 3 AFL tells us to take a flying jump (but here's two 1st rounders for next year to trade up for him if you rate him that high).

I think they tried to give us more flexibilty this time. PP last year had to be traded for a player. This time we can trade for a player or a pick upgrade, or keep the pick for next year (risky).

They already knocked back extra soft cap room last year that we wanted, mabie we go back to the old system where you get 1 solitary pick in the first round.
