Strategy Draft assistance 2023 [Twomey: NMFC get #19 in 2023, x2 end of 1st rd picks in 2024, and x2 extra rookie list spots in 2024; no Sanders/#11]

I really want us to trade our 3 for Melbourne's 5 and 13.
Can still one of the top group at 5. Possibly Watson or Caddy.
Trade our 2 futures from next year and our future second for GC's 5 while conveniently not bidding on their players. If they have to "go into deficit" next year. That deficit is covered by those picks.
I'd even be tempted to see if Gws would trade their first this year (6 I think) first our future 1st next year and back ourselves to move up the ladder.
We need bulk talent now, not spread over another 2 or 3 years. Plus the bond the 1st year guys form when they come into a club together makes them more likely to buy in and want to build the club to success together.

So the dream would be -
Trade out -
  • 2023 pick 3
  • 2024 natural first (4 - 8?)
  • 2024 2 assistance firsts (19 & 20), 2024 second (22 - 26)

Trade in -
Melbourne's 5 and 13
Gws 6
GC 4

2023 draft -
2, 4, 5, 6, 13, 14 & 19

Stephens and Fisher with later picks this year
Another good player with our future second
Haynes salary dump

Won't come into the draft until 3rd round 2024. Little draft or trade capital so Look for 1 or 2 good free agents off the back of a much improved year. Reload again for 2025.

7 elite youngsters and 4 mature players in 1 year.
That's how you reset a list!! I'm off to tell Brady now....

I like it except i'd rather go after the GWS pick as a salary dump for Haynes and giving them back a pick 19 in return as opposed to giving up our own future 1st.

It just seems to me that some people really cannot handle the idea of people who they perceive as being lesser than them getting a helping hand of any kind.
To be slightly controversial about it, this is what is driving a certain amount of the No vote for the current referendum. If the question was not simply relating to a constitutionally enshrined voice to parliament but instead referred specifically to government funding, ie - should there be significant programs to overcome the issues encountered by indigenous Australians that leads to a much higher incarceration rate, a much lower life expectancy, and other statistically and incontrovertibly proven economic and social disadvantages - then I suspect there would still be a fair amount of voters who would say no, give them nothing, it's divisive etc etc.

This McKercher wank fest is bizarre. He is identical to Tsatis and it really bothers me that North BigFooty have wet dreams over a kid that when running full tilt cant hit a target to save his life, especially when his asset is running full tilt. He’ll be a turnover merchant with some brilliant flashes. HARD *IN PASS

Have you gotten over Reid yet?

We wont see real outrage until Big Ben McKay nabs us pick 3.
North draft assistance on the MB clocked 10k last night.

Wait for it.
The real outrage will start next year when we start rolling teams who don't think we should be anything other than a punching bag.

Watch out if we win a game against a contender.

I get it - as Anderson said this morning NM has been a shambles for 6 years. Can't argue that.
His reaction to a few picks outside the 1st round was quite bizarre.

It's not like we're asking for a share in the gate taking from Pork Barrel Stadium or looking to pay players outside the salary cap.

Imagine if we win our annual game at Geelong? It'll be nuclear.

Revenge should be merciless.

Feed on their anguish, drink their blood from goblets and stomp on their lifeless corpses on the field.

Carlton on Good Friday.

They will go Bananas.

They didn't think we should be beating them when they were shithouse, how they gonna cope if we roll them after they've made finals and on a big stage.

They'll burn memberships.

Listening to SEN, (I know) and they discuss the reverse order as the only equalisation measure, then say that FS and academy picks are a separate issue? They don't even understand their own arguments.
The other issue is that Gold Coast is getting three potential top 10 picks for nothing. Teams like Gold Coast and GWS are stock piling players in their academies. The argument is that they don't have access to father sons. It didn't stop Sydney putting Blakey into their academy.

We, as Roos supporters, are bathing in a pool of saltiness that would rival the Dead Sea.

Grab a cuppa and treat yourself to 10 mins listening to the bitterness of these miserable flogs. Nat even went back to Buddy only pick 19 again.

Yeah that makes zero sense. The draft only works if FS and academy picks are abolished. I’m not surprised that these people don’t understand it though, they’re ****ing idiots of the highest order.

Nat Edwards on the AFL Daily podcast today saying there's "no rhyme or reason to how the compensation works". She referenced Hawthorn getting pick 19 for Buddy Franklin. Well Nat, I think maybe you just don't understand the "rhyme or reason". A team on the bottom of the ladder is going to be more affected by losing a high $ value player than the team that wins the GF the year before. Hence the high compensation via a pick. Her example of Buddy is literally the rhyme and the reason. Hawthorn won flags straight after Buddy left so losing him didn't impact them hardly at all.
