Whilst I think one could/should be (for the right player, not just because we have the pick), I think we could use the opportunity to build our back six/address needs with these picks.
Yep, however it is done I don't see us going into 2024 relying solely on Dawson and Corr.

It's hilarious, Edwards admits her bias as a Hawks supporter, and acknowledges that the Hawks built their multiple premiership team on the back of priority picks, but then tries to even twist that as Clarkson trying to do what he did at Hawthorn again at North as somehow being unfair! Just come out and say it, "It's OK when my team does it, but North can't have nice things!"

Also, they seem to think that by saying "continually" getting assistance and "go the AFL EVERY TIME" that these lies somehow become facts, we got a 2nd&3rd rounder last year that had to be traded, yesterday's package is the first assistance of any real significance we have been given!

The meltdowns across the whole industry, media, oppo fans, other clubs, it is truly a beautiful thing!

I'm bemused about the "continual" handouts. Aside from Logue & Tucker last year, what other handouts have we ever got?

And Clarkson did nothing to get a PP (Roughead) in 2004. In those days it was black and white - win less than 6 games and you got a pick BEFORE the first round. As a result Richmond, Dogs and Hawthorn all got the first 3 picks and then got picks 4-6. Clarko's contribution to this? Nothing. He didn't coach Hawthorn in 2004.

Nat Edwards is usually OK in a bland sort of way. But that was far from her best effort. She had no idea what she was talking about and just went on a rant. Barrett - well he's just a bellend.

They were talking about “continual handouts” last year when we first received any sort of handout.. ****ing muppets the lot of them.
It’s possible they are including the age old “tin rattler” stuff to come up with continual handouts. Anyway,
I dunno, something about arguing with idiots…

So in a way, we can blame this whole mess on Chris himself, if he never split that embryo back in the womb all those years ago.....
Yeah pretty much. What an idiot!

Can I say though, in an odd way, I kind of enjoyed him telling us all what he really thinks. There was something refreshing about it, even if it was mostly dumb

This is the key point to me. There are so many compromises, inconsistencies and discrepancies in everything in the AFL, in the draft, F/Ss, academies, NGAs, assistance, free agents. And they continually change the rules around it all. Outside of the draft, fixturing, timeslots, umpire allocations, media bias, etc etc.

I'd rather our team didn't need and didn't get assistance, but the way this is all set up, if there is an opportunity to get a leg up, you have to take it, every other club would in our situation and has in the past to our detriment.

Our job is to make the most of what we have been given, then in the future, given the way everyone else is acting at the moment, when another club has their hand out for some help, we go full hypocrite and screech loud and long about how unfair it would be for them to receive a single thing!!

You forgot to add salary dumps like Geeeeelong and others have done, how is that even a mechanic that doesn’t end up in a compromised draft.

As said before, take a player and their salary from another club AND a first rounder and hand them back a second rounder at best.

Like what the actual **** is that even, but hey some team finished bottom 2 for 4 years in a row and can’t even get a leg up because it compromises the draft LMFAO..

Priority picks should be set up as such:

Win less than 2.5 games: Before first round.

Win less than 3.5: Mid First Round.

Win less than 4.5: Before second round.

Please don’t show Mr Scott this . West Coast received a pp in 2001 Chris Judd . They won flag 1994 played finals from 95 to 99 lol

Use this years pic, trade the two next year picks.

Always thought the draft order Should be based on a clubs average position over 3 years, stops good sides from being rewarded for having one bad year due to injuries and then bouncing up the ladder, and also doesn’t punish sides who might jump up the laddder quickly in one season, but then shoot down the bottom again.

Effectively would mean a club would have to forcibly tank for 3 years to get the better draft picks, and would take out a lot of tanking from the game.

Chris Scott when he finds out North gets some crumbs off the table.

Chris Scott when he is reminded that Geelong benefited from manipulating the draft last year.

Chris Scott when told Geelong built their flags off father sons which horrendously compromised the draft.

The disingenuous pretending not to understand how FA comp is calculated and seeing "no rhyme or reason" to how B-Mac could get us pick 3 and Buddy only got her poor Hawks 19 really just made her look a bit silly as a journo and supposed expert if she actually didn't understand the rules!

(Also, it's funny how historical PPs are apparently irrelevant when we need assistance, but historical FA comp when Hawthorn is seen as disadvantaged isn't!)

And they traded Judd to Carlton for a bloke drafted due to a PP, Kennedy, and another pick available due to a PP, 3. The whole Judd thing from go to wo was only possible through PPs.

If it's going to cause this much angst amongst opposition supporters and clubs, then get rid of it altogether. All we have done is follow the procedures the AFL have in place. The vitriol and hatred being directed at us is outrageous...........

p.s **** em all

At the start of the season virtually every AFL reporter and nose to the gutter and ambulance chasing son of a club president news-hound had North as last on the ladder. Their predictions ought to have informed them that the AFL would offer an assistance package.

Are they all as stupid as they look?

Found this list. It would be interesting to see where these sides finished to qualify for this assistance. Quite a few Norm Smith Medalist, Brownlow Medalist, Coleman Medalist and Premiership Players on the list.

I didn’t mind C.Scott as a coach, but after this embarrassing rant from him he is one of the biggest flogs in the AFL today. He should have apologised for his comments this morning after waking up and thinking…wtf did I say that. Flog of a human. I hope Geelong finish bottom 2 for the rest of his career as coach.
