The 3km trial was run in 3 groups.

Group 1 was the small/medium midfielders and the medium forwards - basically players numbered 1-24 in the list. Only 13 of 24 ran. Trial was won comfortably by Dan Hannebery (Oakleigh) with a good time of about 10 minutes 16 seconds (plus or minus a couple of seconds) - then followed Chris Hall (SA Eagles), Stephen Hill (West Perth), Ian Richardson (Claremont) & Sam Wright (Murray). Tom Rockliff (Murray) was a distant last.

Group 2 was the medium midfielders and medium defenders - basically players numbered 25-46. Only 12 of 22 ran. Trial was won very comfortably by Steele Sidebottom (Murray) in a time of about 10:31 (plus or minus a few seconds). He streeted them. Second was Sam McGarry (Sandringham) and then a group cam in pretty much together. Ashley Smith who won yesterday's 20m sprint was in the last couple.

Group 3 was the tall defenders, tall forwards & ruckmen - players numbered 47-75 on the list. Only 15 of 29 ran. Naitanui was a no-show - only 3 rucks ran. Trial was won by Tom Lynch (Sandringham) in a time of about 11:10 (plus or minus a few seconds) from Lewis Johnston (North Adelaide), Jordan Jones (Geelong) & Michael Hurley (Northern). Zach Sengstock probably set a record for the slowest 3km run.

Skills session consisted of 2 groups of about 20 players doing various drills - probably half the players there didn 't participate. Made a few notes but probably nothing that hasn't been said before.

My two observations about this draft is that the consensus seems to be that it's a good draft - the first 25 will be good players and there will still be good players available in the third round. I don't think it's as cut and dried as a lot of mock drafts would have you believe either. There will be some surprises, some sliders (either way) and if one of them is near the top it will throw everybody out that follows.

on the issue of running vert leap test... my cousin was telling me he went to the VIC state screening in 2003 and there was a guy there who did 105cm!! Some guy from Northern Knights, didn't get drafted though. Name started with 'M', smallish midfield type. Apparently the pegs on the pole only went up to 100cm and they had to rejig it so they could get a register on his leap! so maybe Jarred and NicNat don't have the all-time draft camp/state screenings record after all??

Here's a thought... Perhaps your cousin is full of shit

Thats a pretty impressive time from Hannebery if true, also Rusty seemed to produce a good time after a long season.

not full of shit at all... he has no good reason to make it up. It is DEFINITELY true. Regardless, no need to get so defensive... i'm just relaying something to demonstrate that Brennan & NicNat might not have the 'greatest vert leap in draft camp history'!! Highlights the fact that it would be interesting to see the results from state screenings to get further insight into those not at the National draft camp.

Well technically they do have the darft camp record - coz you said it happened at state screenings - which isnt the draft camp...

Yeh you're right, technically they do have the DC record. But still highlights the issue of knowing state screening results. Would be interesting to see. Regardless of where it was done, a 105cm vert leap is MASSIVE and you wonder what other extraordinary results come out of state screenings.

Wow, Watts just under 196cm. And you'd think with him being only 17 that he's probably still got a few centermeters left in him aswell.:thumbsu:

200.9cm :p So almost 201cm. Perfect size.

It also gives the vert leap comparisons a bit more context as well. 5cm short of Croad's standing leap record, but 11cm taller than Croad (so tapped the markers 5-6cm higher than Croad did) - is going to be outREACHING players by miles to be first at the footy :thumbsu:

Just uploading then 2 Vids from Day 3:thumbsu:
