Lions fans will remember the years from 96 to 99, where the Kangaroos forward line run a muck every time we played them with McKernan & Carey playing across the half forward line.

In 2003 it will the Brown & Carey show.

Give Hammond the No 45 guernsey, and we'll have The King running around in the No 18 guernsey in Lions colours in 2003.

:)

if they have the opportunity then the Lions should get Wayne FOR SURE. Allot more +'s than -'s in it.

and it would intensify our rivalry with NM.

Yes, why not. The Lions should always be striving to improve their team. If we stand still, because the team did the job last year, we'll be overrun as other teams improve.

Lynch may retire soon and Carey would be a useful replacement, if that was the case. Bradshaw, Carey and Brown would be very handy.

Carey is three years younger than Lynch. Although he has a few injuries, his manager Ricky Nixon claimed that he had three - five years left in him. From all reports he was in bullocking form in the Pre season competition.

Pike was picked up despite a few misgivings from Lions supporters and has been a valuable addition to the team. If there is a place for Carey and an opportunity and it doesn't cost the Lions too much in player personnel, pick him up.

Salary cap issues could force us to bypass him, although his value will probably have decreased after a year out of footy.

We've just won a Premiership without the likes of Wayne Carey, ye of little faith that we won't win it again in 2002

I never said I don't think we can win it in 2002, I think Carey would IMPROVE our team. He would improve any team, he is a class act on the field.

Just not off the field.

And why is that?

Because why the hell would we want carey in our team after what hes done. He shouldn't play AFL again. What makes you think he won't pull another stunt and try and get with a Brisbane players girlfriend/wife or any other teams if he plays AFL again?

Libba is a legend anyway and the majority of my previous post that you quoted was sarcastic.

Because he had an extra-marital affair? Come on.

The Lions are a football club, not a church or a marriage guidance firm. There's plenty of examples of where AFL players have had or have rumoured to have had extra-marital affairs. I really don't see what that would have to do with your ability to play football.

If he's available, has the desire and hunger to play football and he doesn't cost the earth, I'd certainly be in favor of picking him up. Most AFL clubs have already stated that if they had a similar set of circumstances they would certainly draft him.

I don't know whether he would or he wouldn't. I would suggest that if and when he goes to another club his reputation would precede him and opportunities to do that would be severely limited. I would certainly be prepared to take the risk for the chance to improve the team and possibly win another premiership.

All good points there Roylion. Another reason in which why we shouldn't get Carey is that he is injury prone. He is 30 years of age, well past his best and I wouldn't want to take that risk of traded a good quality player for an old injury prone player in Carey. We have no room for Carey in our list. We have Darren Bradshaw who will hopefully be the first rookie elevated to the senior list. He is going to be a very good player. We do not need an old forward to replace Lynch at the end of the year.

I believe that Bradshaw, Bradshaw and Brown will be a better combination than Carey, Bradshaw and Brown.

Pffffffffffffffttttttttttttt ... NO THANKS

What's wrong with the young guys we have ... they won us a flag last year.

cheers ... Kaz :D

Just offer him $10 a game..... that's more than he will get sitting on his arse on the couch watching T.V. If he want's to play footy then he'll have to take what he can get, besides he should be doing it for the love rather that the loving anyway. Besides he wont be making the same mistake twice, and if he does he is a very, very silly man!

Have to aim about continually improving our list. It would look better with him on it.

As for prior indescretions - Pikey turned out all right didn't he & he had a track record a mile long!

One final thing - if Carey's on our list - he aint playing for someone else.

Just gotta ensure any deal is worth it & we don't give away everything for what could be a "basket case" (but a basket case who can certainly play footy)
