This will happen come draft day:

1. MEL - Jack Watts
2. WCE - Nicholas Naitanui
3. FRE - Hamish Hartlett
4. PA - Tyrone Vickery
5. ESS - Daniel Rich

:thumbsu:

Hopefully, cross my fingers:thumbsu:

I get the feeling this board is going to go off on draft day

Do you mean in a bad way or a good way? Because I don't think the Essendon board would be annoyed if we didn't get Rich, most people see it as outside chance at best. He would be great, but I'd love Hartlett, Sidebottom or Yarran as well.

Well it is Freo..anything is possible, although I do rate Hill quite a bit imo.

But I do hope we grab Hartlett if Rich goes to Freo

nup, would be staggered if this happened, the dockers have just lost warnock, because he wants to go home, josh carr because he wanted to go back to SA , and we have the opportunity to take the highest rated midfielder, clearly our biggest area of defficiency and he is from WA!!! i know the dockers prior to 07 had a bad history in the draft but for us to pick up hartlett ahead of rich would be moronic.... and i dont believe that mark harvey and chris bond are morons. it would not surprise me at all however, if hartlett ended up at the bombers, which would be a great pick up for you

In a good way

I wouldn't be dissapointed if Rich wasn't avaliable at your pick. Hartlett and Yarran have more potential for improvement

this is the only reason why I have doubts about us passing on Rich. We very rarely pass on home grown talent, unless someone special is avaliable. Is Hartlett a special talent?

nah no chance, you'd think Hartlett or Hurley will be in the dons jumper next year...

I'm not an expert, but ant555 believes there isn't much seperating Rich from Hartlett, Sidebottom.
That's what I mean. If we rate them even then we will always take the local player. I haven't seen anyone rate Hartlett higher than Rich, although it seems like not many have seen enough of him to judge

Only real reason I could see them take Hartlett is because they'd think he'd fit their gameplan better and would be a better fit for the Palmer, Ibbotson tandem.

I do doubt they'd overlook Rich if he was there.

i agree PM, if they are about the same in ability, then surely we would go with the home grown talent..... especially after losing warnock and carr to go back to other states. personally this is the first draft i can remember a top three that are so locked in.

Gibbs, Gumbleton, Hansen?

the only other three i can remember is maybe hodge judd and ball, although polak and sampi were both touted as top three propositions as well

Nope. Luenberger and Selwood could have easily gone top 3 as well

they could, but you could say that other players could "easily" go top three this year as well.

I'd reckon 95% of the 06 phantom drafts had some combination of the above 3 players, so whether others could "easily" have gone top 3 is pretty academic
