I hope we don't get Hurley, there is a stack of KPP and we can get one at 23. Lets get a A garde mid at pick 5 please. Hope it is Rich (in a ideal world), but if not Hartlett, Sidebottom or Ziebell will be fine.

I am of a firm belief we should take a small with pick 5. We should be able to get Lisle at 23 and he is good enough. I'd rather a midfielder than Hurley

How do you know he is good enough?

We might rate Hurley as a possible champion and Lisle as a 50/50 to even make it.

Do you want us to overlook someone we might think will be a champion because he is not a midfielder?

I trust Ant on Lisle as I'll be honest I have not seen him, but he is highly rated so he can't be that bad. I just feel we need some elite class in our midfield. In the end the best defence is a GREAT midfield. We need some elite midfielders with elite kicking skills. I trust whoever the EFC choose on draft day but if I were choosing it on the day I'd go small unless Naituai (as slim as it is) falls to our pick.

The question had nothing to do with if he was "Not too bad" and Ant would also admit that he doesn't know if he will make it or not, as does anyone else.

So i will ask the question again.

IF we think Hurley will be a champion, do you want us to overlook him because he is not a midfielder?

To answer your question, yes. As I do believe our midfield is the one area we need adressing more than our backline. We did draft 2 backs last year that look ok, and I do feel our midfield needs urgent attention. It is why I really want a Rich type of player, someone with elite footskills.

I am actually not as shocked as some, hartlett would suit Subiaco a bit more.

A week ago that would have been one of the most hypocritical statements I have read. Now, it looks possible, if not likely.
 
Perhaps Brad Lloyd has had a chat to his brother and given him a heads up as to Fremantle's movements come draft day.....
 
Let's say Rich IS available for Essendon (for arguments sake)... wouldn't the odds then be on us, as to whether Essendon may overlook him as well?

Or have they expressed interest in him, to which I've missed?

Don't get me wrong though, I hope things fall into place smoothly. Just seems like 50/50 chance here.

I disagree with our midfield being the key area. I think losing Mal, We are very thin down back. Fletch will be gone in a season or two, and that leaves Ryder and unproven kids.

We must get a decent defender.

Our Midfield, when fit, are pretty good.

WIth the inclusion of Priz, the forward line will be more prominent too as his precision kicking will bring them into the game.

Midfield of Watson, Stanton, Prismall, McViegh, Lovett, Lonergan, Houli, Riemers, Myers. Makes me think that our young midfield is in pretty good hands and that our defence will need some work.

Maybe Gumbleton will be a CHB, but I dont think that Ryder is a Full Back, so i believe we have a defensive dilemma on our hands.

Prismall is NOT a gun, he will be serviceable no doubt, but if we are basing our whole side around him we are stuffed. Players ALWAYS look good in good teams. We need that genuine A class midfielder, every premiership winnning side has 1-2 of them. Even Sydney who had a poorish midfield had 2 in Kirk and Goodes. Our defence is fine, Ryder will be FB, Pears, Hooker, Daniher to fill the other positions, and we can draft a tall at 23 if needed.

I reckon he might surprise you! (not only you)

He would walk into our best side. Not sure how good hooker will be, needs some development, same with Daniher, could be a star, could be a dud, Pears looks ok, but i think more as a HBF rather than KP. Ryder is better from Half Back, I think he gets lost from the goal square. Could be something he learns, but Hurley for me, would be a super aquisition as a potential full back, especially if he can develop for a year under Dustin.

If Rich is available at 5, it would be a obvious choice i would think, but i dont think that it will be a decision rushed, especially as the northern knights team manager has informed me that Dodoro has been seen as a regular nearly every week. (as well as a few carlton blokes)
 
Prismall will be decent and at the price we got him is a good get, I like the bloke but he is not a A Grade mid, does not mean he is bad though. As ant has said the FB position is becoming less of a stand in the goalsquare and defend. Ryder fits the athletic FB mould. If we draft Lisle he can play CHB. We need a midfielder with our pick 5. Rich, Swift, Sidebottom, Ziebell. Any of them would add class to our midfield. Every premiership side has a number of A Class mids, usually more than 2-3.
 
A month ago, I think 95% of people on here wanted Hurley (myself included) but his DC times were ordinary no two ways about it. As a result most people want a midfielder now with 5 (we won't get Hurley with 23) and get a tall with 23.
