"Midfields win premierships" is the morons' mantra. Bullshit. Risk-takers win premierships. Every time Richmond has a chance to put its balls on the line they suck up into the body instead. Playing it safe is a sure way to fail. I'm sick of recycling other clubs' cast-offs. What has Adam Thomson done after four years in the system? Sweet FA. Hislop: ******** who can't kick.
Ah well, the first two picks were good. Shame we didn't take a few more. Look at Port: they had 8 picks and passed once I think. Look at the Weagles: two years after playing in a GF they've loaded up on young talent again. Look at Hawthorn: premiers and have their third pick before ours. Look at Richmond: trying to take short-cuts yet again. Surprised we didn't draft Leigh Brown - he was pick 5 in his draft after all ...

I am with you! Terrible result from CC and the team. I am dissapointed we missed out on a good young kid for someone like Hislop who is most likely not going to change his off field habits. We have all heard how they will change their attitudes, last chance etc and don't. Prime example is Collard from Freo who promised that he would change. Should have taken McKernan instead of Post. He will be a CHB for us and NOT a forward. How many tall forwards do we need???:(

Commiserations to Tyrone Vickery. As a Top Ten draft pick at Richmond he will be subjected to some ridiculous expectations, purely for being drafted in the top ten (even though he didn't ask to be). On the basis of Tambo, JON etc Tyrone better be killing them before his 19th birthday or he'll be slaughtered by the negatives on Bigfooty. Hopefully he's well schooled in the art of ignoring them.

Let me re-phrase that: How many tall CHB's do we need with Moore, McGuane and Polak.

Post is a KPP who can play as either a forward or defender. He adds more flexibility to the list. Hopefully though the club will develop him as a KP defender along with Rance which then means we will be able to play Moore as a running rebound defender which I think will be his best role.

Sorry forgot about Gourdis being delisted.

As for the rookie selections, I suppose there is a chance you could be right, there is little hope for any of them becoming quality footballers. Considering that we got Thursfield, Foley, King & Moore from the rookie draft in recent years there is also a chance you could be wrong.
Actually you are wrong about what I meant. Last year Howat, Silvestor and Cartledge. Could be the same bullshit this year.

We drafted perfectly

The 3 most needed players were a ruckman, a key position player and a strong midsized defender. We picked up all 3. If we can get Hislop into gear, he is a ready made midsized defender which we had planned for Casserley, but couldn't get over injury. Maybe we have passed on pick 70 so we can fill the last spot on the list using some guy called Cousins

Then again it could be a year where we land the next Will, Foley or Moore.
Only time will tell, at least we're giving ourselves every chance we'll unearth a gem, by adding 4-5 kids via the rookie draft.

Where about is the Corner Hotel
It is a subforum at the top of the page. There is a thread stickied at the top of the page that explains how to get into it.

RT, the rookie draft has not happened, so saying we are taking 4-5 kids is premature. Last year we took 3 overages.

Re: We drafted perfectly

I agree MT, we drafted today the way we should have in 05!

Vickery, Post, and Hislop all fill needs on our list, Hislop i think will be the better version of Rainsey to run out of defence and play on the medium/small forwards. Tough as guts too so will really put physical presence into our side when he gets a game!

Re: We drafted perfectly

I agree... did well today, covered our needs.

Heard Francis Jackson in an interview earlier saying that Cousins is a no go for us.

Adam Cockshell is likely for PSD or Rookie depending on who else is available at our PSD pick.

What about McGuane & Thursty RT??? How many KPD does that make?

Re: We drafted perfectly

Once again you celebrate mediocrity, Jethro Dull-ard...Hislop was a major blunder and a disgraceful decision, should've got someone like Sibasado. Post over Mckernan ... maybe not a complete disaster , but it just sounds dumb. Vickery, yeah i'm glad, fills a drastic need, but have a bit of an uneasy feeling about the fact that we didn't take Ziebell who was still available. Pass on pick 70? Didn't realise this club had such an embarrassment of riches that we can afford such luxuries.... hope you're at least right about Cousins. Of course I hope I'm wrong about all our picks and they all become guns. The first two could well be...if Hislop contributes anything useful to us, I'll start listening to Return To Forever & Weather Report...

You're right we probably wont add all kids but the expectations are that it will be more 18-19 year olds taken in the rookie draft rather than older types as clubs look to secure a few kids prior to GC17 coming in next year.

If you start listening to Return to forever, you'll realise it's quality and you were just stupid in the past

Oh yeah I still know Tull are the best rock band to grace this earth ;)

Re: We drafted perfectly

McKernan won't be to suited for AFL....Post>McKernan. Post is much more ideal as we already drafted Vickery. If we had gone Ziebel than maybe McKernan could have been an option.

SPOT on, MT. All needs were covered. An excellent draft from where I sit.

And good call by my buddy Bojangles17 earlier today.

The need for two talls!! A spot for him on the recruiting committee me thinks!!

We had Thursfield, McGuane, Rance & Silvestor as true KPD, Moore plays as one at the moment but I think he is going to be better as a running rebounding defender in the future someone who can play on the smaller tall/midsized forwards like Fevola, S.Johnson, Riewoldt, Pavlich & O'Keefe.

I believe that we will develop Post as a KPD, with Vickery joining Riewoldt, Hughes, Putt & Pattison as KPF. That gives us 5 true KPD's and 5 true KPF's, with players like Schulz & Polak (if he makes it back) to play where they are needed, i.e. an extra tall down back to help out against a side with plenty of KPF or up forward to really stretch a side who are lacking KPD.

Not sure what you're on about there with that comma etc.
Are you asking if he'll be a ruckman, or saying he won't?
