Pick 23 depending on who's available.

Mids - Florent/Bolton/Powell - Pepper/Poholke/C Cox

Defenders - Maiburn/B Cox/Rotham/Garthwaite

Forwards - Sproule/Hayward

Rucks - (though we don't another) - Olango

I'm sure we will look to the midfield for 23 (Florent) but I'd love to be able to extract Zac Sproule from the Giants academy @ 23 then get a midfield slider at 36 then follow up with Garthwaite at 60.

Reasonable chance Sproule goes much later.

Some barely have him sneaking into the top 50...

And Garthwaite is an Academy kid too.

I'm liking Witherden - kicking skills - I want elite users of the ball. I think you can carry a couple of ordinary users but not too many. Kicking is key.

Most experts have Florent to North at 12 so doubt even if Cedric and Todd go to the Adelaide clubs it isn't going to help.

Like many others, our recruiting team have runs on the board so will get behind whomever we pick with 23 and 36...

I really like Zac Sproule but agree that Pick 23 is probably too low however with GWS having Pick 37 & 39 our second pick (36) wouldn't get it done.

Don't think they will pick Garthwaite (rookie maybe) so he might be a good late defender choice.

Brody Murdoch was an elite kick.
Have you got any other strings to Witherden's bow?

Here's the elite kickers from Murdoch's draft.
Laine Wilkins – 29 Who?
Rory Atkins – 29 A very quick player.
Josh Simpson – 29 Nope.
Jack Martin – 28 Good kicking was the icing on the cake.
Will Hams – 28 Nope.
Brodie Murdoch – 28 Nope.
Dominic Barry – 27 Nope.
Aidan Corr – 27 Good tall defender and user of the ball.
Kamdyn McIntosh – 27 Still a possibility
James Stewart – 27 Traded for pick 77 ( ie free ).
Matthew Haynes – 27 Fast and a good kick. Not drafted
Louis Herbert – 27 De-listed
Jason Pongracic – 27 Not drafted.

As far as i can gather Witherden was someone who looked promising a year ago, but needed to prove himself this year.
He broke his leg.
Others slid down the pecking order as some of their shortcomings were revealed during the year, while others increased their profile.
Do we just assume that Witherden would have dominated?
Good kicking is great, but he has to be a footballer to start with.

Best case , if we are really lucky, Witherden turns into a slower version of Jimmy Webster.

Based on the chatter i have the order as this so far:
1 (Essendon) McCluggage
2 (GWS) McGrath
3 (Brisbane) Ainsworth
4 (GC) Taranto
5 (GWS) SPS
6 (GC) Logue
7 (Freo) English
8 (GC) Brodie
9 (Sydney) Simpkin (BID: Bowes, Setterfield)
10 (GC) Bowes*
11 (NM) Scrimshaw (BID: Perryman)
12 (WCE) Pepper-Salt
13 (Adelaide) Cedric Cox
14 (Port) Berry
15 (GWS) Setterfield*
16 (Brisbane) Venables
17 (Port) Marshall
18 (WB) Battle
19 (Sydney) Wayward
20 (Essendon) Witherdon
21 (Brisbane) Ridley
22 (Brisbane) Bolton
23 (STK) Florent/Rotham/Galucci etc.

He played 4 games this year (two at TAC Cup level - averaged 23 possies per game- two for the AIS Academy against VFL teams and then at least a couple for his school as well), so at the very least he didn't look like he was dropping off from what he'd done last year.

I wouldn't be disappointed if we landed him, but he's probably someone I'd rather was picked by someone else before our first, allowing someone who probably fits more of a need to slip to us- eg, maybe a Florent/Marshall.

very interesting on the rumours D&T board apparently an east perth source on the eagles board said theyve talk pepper-salt they wont be taking him with their first pick
It seems from the media talk that he's much more likely to go in the 20's than anywhere else. Strongly suspect he'll still be there at our first, especially with the rumours that Brisbane will A: not be drafting anyone from WA and B: that they might be taking a couple of "smokies" at 21/22.

I have a feeling that it will come down to whether a "slider" we like more is available or not as to whether we select him if he is available and I suspect they will be.

"Yep. Several of them are East Perth sources actually. Berry/Gallucci our main targets, although we do like Bolton and there has been minor talk about Brodie/Hayward if available."

WOW!!!!!

so the mail about them being into bolton for sometime looks to be on the money when it comes to bolton vs SPP

the comment about hayward is very interesting. that combined with his invite to the draft maybe he is going close to top 10

brisbane could walk away with SPP, Bolton and Rotham. if they can package up that many WA boys together would it help keep them at the club?

Berry the dream

I'd be over the moon if Berry is one of the 'drifters'. Great character and fits the oft spoken want of a bigger midfielder.

Otherwise I think it's time to add some silk and excitement to our midfield and forward line. Would be very happy to have Bolton or Cox in RWB.

All the SPP talk seems very Matho to me....wouldnt be surprised if we pass but the 'good' scouting reports on him sound pretty enticing.

Florent and Berry the dreams.
But highly unlikely.

Not so much on the SPP bandwagon but Bolton would be nice
