Draft day's here, the big event
The end result of 12 months spent
Trawling through tapes, and other such stuff
Hoping to find that gem in the rough.

Tonight's gonna be a roller coast ride
Hoping our favourite boy slides
Whatever the result, one thing's a must:
Remember four words - IN TROUT WE TRUST

He won't be stupid, he'll use all his nous
To pick a kid we think is grouse
He won't stuff up like some before
Leaving us wondering what we just saw

He won't pick a kid like Richard T
And pass in a kid like the one called buddy
Or overlook Nic Nat to take jack watts
Bloody hell what stupid twats


Cox or Rotham, Pepper and salt
Whoever it is, his pick we won't fault.
No matter who, it'll all work out

Good news. Maybe it's just West Coast spreading BS in the hopes that he'll get through to their 2nd.

i dont think its that, the problem is the look. the two WA boys who abandoned their clubs and demanded to go home were indigenous kids from south freo. the same club that bolton comes from

so its just in people mind right now

having said that i dont think we take bolton. he'll probably go to the pies and be a star though

One of the big plusses with Bolton of course is that he's got a December birthday, which means he's almost a year younger than some of the others in this draft class and was only a few weeks off being in next year's draft instead. The fact he finished off the year on a clearly upward trend is also usually a good sign of what is to come, especially when combined with a late-year birthday.

Not sure it would be ideal to have 3 in our team going forward who are 177cm or shorter though. Plus maybe Steven and Sinclair at 180cm.

As for Ridley, I'm definitely a fan, and have to give a massive shoutout to my man Bishop for calling him as a bolter way back during the National Champs when almost no one was paying him any attention.

He's got a lot to like about him; great height at 192cm, huge scope for physical improvement at only 79kg, but athletic, smart and classy. Had a super attitude by all accounts. If he was still there at our pick I'd be very keen on him.

Yeah I'm pretty high on Ridley as well. Could see him developing as a Sam Fisher type (the non-key position version) once he puts on a bit of size, with the potential to play other roles as well. Has the strong hands, the terrificly efficient kicking, the reading of the play and the touch of toe that Sam used to have.

Would love it if live trading was in this year if it meant we could get a pick that would get us him, to go with a SPP/Bolton/C Cox/Florent type.

Reckon the Bulldogs will be all over him. His intercept marking is just what they like down back. With picks 18 and 26 they're just going to keep adding quality to an already high quality list.

North: Anyone else, We get Florent.

I dont have to tell anyone here Florent is our dream result.

And how TALL is COX? Ive seen him at 181, 184 and at 186??
If hes 184 or 186 id be very happy to get him I think Bolton is another small we already have heaps of. Obviously not as flashy and speedy but we forget lonie mitch gresh and sinc have huge talent.

It's an interesting one. Especially if Gresh's tank is an issue (and for Paddy to beat you in a time trial it probably has to be!) we could do a hell of a lot worse than to keep adding to our midfield so that we can keep Gresh almost exclusively forward. Just reminded me so much of Milne at times this year with that incredible footwork and his smarts around goal.

IF bolton passes our interviews then id want him over spp and cox but i dont think he will. It will most likely be spp.

I don't get concrete draft info in terms of we are taking person x or y take it to the bank.

But I have spoken to a friend who has said we are very relaxed.very confident who we want will be there.

He made me feel like the person we want is from Wa. A part of me really believes it may be Bolton just from the way we spoke. personally spp is who I want at who is expected to be there at our pick.

Talk of a Victorian mid or two sliding potentially to our pick aswell. Brodie would have been available to us at pick 10 of we kept it

I'm sorry it's vague but I don't really push for names at draft time as I feel uncomfortable if it's wrong or if it affects the club. I just know we are very happy that we will select a player we covet at our first pick.

Am hearing the same That we are very likely to bring in a WA boy tonight... but I'm not willing to mention a name as it's a) not set in stone b) it could effect the end result naming a name...

That said the kid I'm hearing is very excited at the prospect of playing for our club and I think we all will be excited by him coming to our club
