.... Wouldn't surprise me if we shifted our first for two later picks, or Marchbank and a 2nd.
Maybe .... just maybe .... we're getting a bit more confident in our development program.

A lot to be said for growing your own.

And since you're as keen as I am on getting a Sandy Dragon (McGrath, Taranto, Scrimshaw, Setterfield, Florent, Smith) any idea how Barclay Miller's going?

Played against the AFL Academy for NZ earlier in the season, hasn't played at TAC Cup level. Only the one local club game, believe he has been playing for Mentone Grammar in the AGSV comp- but I'm yet to see Mentone play this year.

scrimshaw/taranto with our first and scharenberg/galluci if we can trade back into the second would be a good haul I feel, sets us up very well midfield wise for 2019

The closer we get to a pick like 10 or 11 the more likely I see it being that we'll go really hard at a Gaff/Crouch type, as they are or have elite potential, whereas you're less likely to get someone with elite potential with a pick outside the top 4 or 5, especially in a draft that doesn't really have a stand-out top-end.

Would be pretty awesome if we managed to get say Gaff this year and then went super-hard at a Hopper/M Kennedy next year from GWS and landed one of them. That would be a dream type result and something I don't think would be the hardest thing to pull off, with us having so much cap space free and being an exciting team on the rise that will be appealing and about to move to a new training facility.

Problem is Gaff will take two first round picks

Barrels I've seen you mention Villis a few times, I'm not really that keen from the few games I've scene. It seems like he doesn't find anywhere near enough of the pill, was that just the few championship games I saw or is he not much of an accumulator?

I wouldn't pay two first rounders for him. At least not two like 10. Pick 10 and next year's 2nd ought to do it.
i agree thats what we should pay but this is wce who are right in the middle of their window. they will want the world for him

having said that if we landed hurley, i wonder if the sell to our supporters on the cost for gaff will be easier

Doubt we'd have enough cap space for both Gaff and Hurley in one offseason, surely?

We've got plenty of cap space....and when I say plenty I mean bucketloads.

Gaff for 2 x 1st rounders??? No thanks

I'd actually have mixed feeling about trading 1. I just don't think he's that good.

182cm wingman with serious wheels, lovely footskills and who finished in the top couple of Norwood's Senior 3km time trial; can kick, can run.

Has played 1 U18s, 4 Senior and 4 Reserves games for the Redlegs too, so can play.
Do you think Vennables will go before McGrath?
Not after McGrath's Champs you'd think, but who knows...

How quick is McGrath? Is he burst quick or builds up over distance?

Would love a JJ like player rocketing out of our defence.

Hurdler so he's fast out the blocks and at his best when leaping over players to break lines.

Serious afterburners too. Loves to leave a trail of clashing bodies behind him. :D

I get he's speedy and can kick very well, but can he find the ball? Or is he just a receiver of the pill like Gaff? He didn't seem to get enough of it to go top 20 for me.
