List Mgmt. Draft Discussion 2016

I am still in McGrath fan club.

GWS's rise came with Wilson getting games.

An attacking line breaking half back is critical.

Despite being 14th in clearances, Saints were happy to position Joey at half back for the quality rebound.

So important to get an attacking half back.

Steele and Taranto are very similar player so yould think by getting Steele Taranto would be made redundant.
Look at Scrimshaw but I think he'll be taken at top 6-7
Also don't think his kicking is as good stated. Had a good technique but can shank occasionally
Who else would you be keen on other than Tarranto and Scrimshaw? Should we trade down for a Florent and Simpkin double?

think there's more to their rise than just Wilson getting games...

Here's a combination out of leftfield. Go the double Alex!

Alex Villis and Alex Witherden. Both have midfield potential. Excellent defensive pressure. Loads of quality there.

If Steele asks for a trade to us I wouldn't be opposed to us trading our two first rounders to them for their Collingwood first rounder this year (about pick 7- to ensure we get a McCluggage/Brodie/SPS/Ainsworth/McGrath/Taranto/Scrimshaw- who might be a cut above the next batch, outside of English and Marshall, who might also go top 7), Steele and perhaps a 2nd rounder or two, or whatever.

All the reports from earlier in the season were that the draft is very even throughout the first round.
Has this changed?
If not , wouldn't it be bad to give up too much to improve our first pick?
Not an expert but.
Think its a pretty standard draft.
There are two standouts for the no1 (excluding Bowes because academy)
Plenty of other mixed talent in the first round.
Not much point climbing up the order

More of a running half back at the moment come midfielder.
Not a key position type only at 80kg currently has a nice kick

We seem pretty well stocked with those right now.

Interesting article on Kayle Kirby in the Hun yesterday after his apparently eye-opening game for Richmond against Sandy in the VFL last week- where he kicked 5 goals, layed some crunching tackles/bumps and so-on and I see that he then backed it up with 4 more sausages this weekend in the VFL.

Pretty good for someone who is reportedly just 17yo still and is probably very underdeveloped as a result of not being in an elite program and training as much as some others would be.

They compared his attack on the man to that of Byron Pickett, but said he was "electric" and had some Cyril like tricks to go with it and that he is also a terrific kid.

Sounds like someone that Richo would dearly love to have in his forward line going forward. Possibly Nathan Wright-like defensively, but with much, much more of a damaging attacking game to go with it.

They said after last week's game against Sandy that he had "rocketed up the draft boards", so it will be interesting to see where he lands, especially after another 4 goal haul yesterday.

I know midfield is a priority, but someone like him (an inches taller version of McDonald-Tippenwuti) would really suit Richo's game plan, so maybe trading down if we got Steele could help us land Kirby.

17? When he hit puberty? 8yo.

Interesting that in the members video yesterday Richo flat out said that we would be very active in the trade window and that we have work getting done in improving the list again.

Felt like there was more than Steele in play. OMeara? A late Prestia bid? Travis Cloke?

I like Scrimshaw in the draft but if White and DMac hold yesterday's form then we look to be in safe hands. Id probably still draft him though with Gilbert and Dempster at the end.

DMac, White, Roberton and Scrimshaw would be impossible to defend through half back. Then we would have Savage on a wing as well. Dem foot skillz!!

That would be some devastating rebound off half back, which is where we set up a lot of our attack. Would allow Savage to play up the ground more often and be that inside 50 kicking option as well as Webster. I'd much rather these guys kicking inside 50 as opposed to Joey who tends to just bomb it in high and long to a pack.

I know he's short, but I reckon you could put Ainsworth into a forward pocket from round 1, set and forget! Would take if still there at pick 10 based on his talent and x factor.

Would not have him any day any pick .

Ok then.
Pass on Brodie and mcluggage aswell?

Brodie is the safest selection of the entire draft.

McCluggage will be a very good player , given time .

Unfortunately both gone .

Have not seen Florent play ...but knowledgable recruiters I know say he could be good.

The kids I have seen would have McGrath any day any time.
If he is gone Taranto is a kid that has the skill set in AFL system to make it.

If we had Steele , Taranto , Simpkin , Cox or Begley would be a very very happy man.
