That would be awesome, but I can't see GWS doing it unfortunately. We'd have to give up something else. There's a fair chance we might end up with pick 12 or so, to they are giving up Steele to move up the draft a couple of spots.
I guess it's all about what picks they get for Marchbank, Stewart, WHE etc.

They may value banking a 2017 1st rounder very highly & view Steele as the steakknives as such

Haven't really taken notice of this years draft crop (yet)

Any love for Pepper-Powell?

StCicatriz
Hes so unbelievably under rated on here along with the rest of the WA kids

Was arguably best on ground today in a losing flag side. 4 goals and 20 something possessions. If he played tac cup people would be talking him up as a first rounder

Only problem with PP is the difference between his best and worst. One moment he looks like dustin martin the next he looks more like dean polo.

Some other WA kids i really really like:
Bolton
Ryan (playing today against an AFL side)
Guelfi
Fisher
Logue
Strnadica

Bolton will be a gem!!!

SPS is not tall, or strongly built, but can win his own ball in heavy congestion, or play an outside or forward role, has elite skills and is very dual-sided (some say he goes onto his left too much) and is quick. He's somewhat like an Akermanis I guess, from an attributes POV.

Would be concerned that he's supposedly just coasted this half of the season though and the talk that he wants to stay in WA.

May be one of those who peaked at 16 or 17yo, or may be one of those who knows he's going to get drafted and is just waiting to get onto an AFL list before he pulls his finger back out again.

If it was out of him or Ainsworth, I'd prefer Ainsworth slid to our pick, even though SPS probably fits our needs slightly better. I'm more confident/sure that Ainsworth will make it and not be a bust, or want out after a few years.
SPS is in tank mode. No way do freo pass on him. If they do then ROFL

The best thing about McGrath is the fact that he stands up in big games when it matters.

36 disposals and 6 clearences
Players who regularly stand up in the big games are worth extra for mine. Likewise the ones who regularly faulter are hmmmm

Yeah, only way I see us ending up with him is if we traded down. Would much prefer we keep pick 10 though.
If we can get Steele for a late second round pick and if we can trade 10 down for that pick and a reasonable pick back ..... I'd consider it a win if we got either Florent or Logue.

Otherwise we could bring in a more speculative option (alongside Steele) - Alex Villis, Jarrod Berry or Alex Witherden would be worth a punt IMO. All productive potential long-term mids with footy smarts who are versatile.

If we don't get Logue early then get a defender later like Jack Maibaum or Brennan Cox.

Overstated. Hes pulled off some impossible goals and has delivered some nice kicks but he can burn it.

The idea his kicking was absolute shite came from last years champs when everyone in WA turned it over badly

Hes no zac fisher but he also isnt clint jones

Im happy for him to slide anyways means we might get him cheap

I've said it a few times, but I'd much prefer we keep pick 10 instead of downgrading our pick.

At the moment we have a good young side, but if we are going to go to the next level we need elite players. I think the talent im the top 10 or 12 this year is really good and we won't have a top ten pick for a long time now you'd hope so we need to make the most of it.

It's in the last 2 pages of his thread. I actually think the campaigner has NFI

Just had a read. It is a little puzzling, but I get the feeling it's his prediction of who will end up the best when it's all said and done. Which makes it slightly more understandable. For anyone else interested, he went with:

1. Jacob Weitering
2. Jacob Hopper
3. Clayton Oliver
4. Callum Mills
5. Joshua Schache
6. Matthew Kennedy
7. Darcy Parish
8. Eric Hipwood
9. Harrison Himmelberg
10. Josh Dunkley
11. Brayden Fiorini
12. Ryan Clarke
13. Aaron Francis
14. Rhys Mathieson
15. Darcy Tucker

Fiorini at 11 is a bit surprising. Played 1 or 2 AFL games right? Had one cracker game but shit, it's one game. Mathieson on the fringe of the top 15 is understandable, for all his ducking and floggish attitude he has had a decent year. I'd have Gresh somewhere around 7 if he keeps developing. Mills behind Oliver and Hopper is a bit surprising to me at this stage. Surprised he had some guys in there who played sweet **** all at AFL level; Clarke, Fiorini, Francis, Himmelberg, Kennedy. Give me guys who have already played some consistently good games at the highest level/tempo.

Yea it is a prediction however he's taken into account what he's seen from the players at AFL level. Surely Gresham's stocks rise after showing he is a match winner / big game player.

Bullshit campaigner. Serious?! Pick 3?! That would be a huge gamble. Surely they could downgrade their pick a few spots and get some decent value in doing so?

He's a talent & there's at least one anonymous club (maybe Freo) that has him at pick 1 in this years draft. That's according to Twomey where he stated that on his podcast.

He's said to be very similar to Cox. A tall ruckman that is very agile & good below his knees.

He's a local WA & certainly won't be avail at Freo's next pick.

Okay time for another top 10 phantom for shits & giggles..

Pick 1 - Ess - Mcluggage
Pick 2 - Bris - Mcgrath
Pick 3 - Freo - English
Pick 4 - GC - Scrimshaw
Pick 5 - GC - Bowes (Carl bid)
Pick 6 - Carl - Ainsworth
Pick 7 - Rich - Brodie
Pick 8 - GWS - Marshall
Pick 9 - Port - Taranto
Pick 10 - StK - SPS

Hypothetically, if English & Marshall don't go top 10, & the above mids/flankers are off the board, who do we take at pick 10? Could we pressure GWS draft points by bidding on all of McCready, Setterfield & Perryman? Or go Berry, Simpkin,Rotham or Logue who seem to be the next rung of talent?

Pick 10 is looking like it could be a bit of a "no-mans-land" to me if we keep it and don't get lucky with what happens with GWS and Gold Coast's picks and the bids that come for those in their respective academies. ie, we'd be relying on them not trading up to 1/2, or out of the top 10 altogether, or after their pick/s at 1/2. If I were GWS or GCS I'd be making Brisbane an offer that was too good to refuse to get pick 2, for starters (to get someone from the non-academy pool, before anyone bids on someone from my academy) and if I were Brisbane, I'd take it.

If all of McCluggage, McGrath, Ainsworth, Brodie, Taranto, SPS and Scrimshaw are gone by 10 then it looks like a whole lot of meh remains (IMO), which is why I'm so keen on us trading up a bit, if we don't trade 10 for anything else of value.

The more I see of Marshall the more overrated he is to me, as he does about 1 or 2 good things in the games I see him play and nothing for the remaining 100 minutes and on top of that he's skinny as a rake and has narrow shoulders.
