For the desired result Perryman has to be bid on at 5 or 6, you'd think unlikely to go earlier. If GC end up with 6 then they won't bid, seems accepted that the expansion clubs don't bid on each others' players. So Carlton have to bid on him at 5, otherwise we've struck out.
GC bid on Hopper last year & forced GWS to take him at pick 7. Can definitely see GC bidding on Perryman or Setterfield if they believe he's the best player available at their pick/s

Florent is fast becoming my fave player in the draft. He just doesn't make mistakes both when attacking and defending and when he does he always makes up for it. His tackling is seriously amazing and equally good is his ability to get his hands free and find a teammate. Additionally he is able to create things out of nothing. Perhaps more importantly is that Florent has this innate and unteachsble confidence to take on the game in the most important moments of a game.- few players have this skill but even fewer have the mindset to actually do it (acres,Gresh, eddy, stinger,Chad,) I would be comfortable taking him at ten but honestly wouldn't be surprised if he goes higher

So...what do we need?

I was in the McGrath bandwagon from the first u18 champ game, but he'll now go at top 3 selection.

Latest drafts are having SPS sliding, who should be considered, despite the WA go home factor. He was considered pick 1 at the start of the year!

If he doesn't slide, Taranto is my first choice. Scrimshaw 2nd and Scharenberg third from the list above (Otherwise reach for someone like Lyons).

Much depends on securing a 2nd round pick if saints can. I really like Kerr, and can be a great value pick up as a ruck forward. Would be better than Pierce as a ruck forward at the point of drafting.

Mcluggage, McGrath, Ainsworth, Brodie & likely SPS will go before our first pick.

Taranto & Scrimshaw a chance to be there at 10.

If all of the above are gone I hope we go Jarrod Berry. He's been up & down this year however was excellent last year. He's a very good size at 191cm, has leadership qualities & has shown versatility to play in defence, forward & a little through the midfield.

If we add Steele as a genuine big bodied mid then I'm okay taking Berry even if worst case scenario he's a medium defender long term.

Below is an interesting and informative write-up of the best prospects from yesterday's TAC Cup grannie.

Reading those numbers, there is no way Taranto makes it to pick 10/11/12, unless he injures himself badly (or something like that) between now and the draft. His numbers read like a Jimmy Bartel and he has a number of similar attributes (high impact per possession, very strong mark for his size, uses the ball really well by foot, good contested numbers, really stood up in big games when it mattered, can play forward, back, or midfield, etc).

Even if we move up the order he'll probably still be gone by our pick. Reckon Scrimshaw is our best chance.

A lot of talk on here about trading our pick down to two later picks. How would we go about this?

People have suggested Steele and 16 for pick 10, but we would have to give up something else if we are serious about that.

I think GC have two picks in the early 20's but I'm worried even all the second tier players such as Florent, Vennables and Berry will be gone by then?

Still not sold on Scrimshaw to be honest. I think people are mostly excited about his height as they look for the next Bont. He does some nice things but he doesn't win a lot of contested footy and his disposal eff is poor - below 60%. I'd love it if another club took the chance ahead of our pick.

Yeah I have to say I'd much rather land Taranto, as he just looks like a safer bet and more of what we really need, due to his proven ability to play inside in particular. He looks like someone who it would be worth giving up a fair bit for.

Scrimshaw is meant to have a good kick, but if you have a good kick and play mostly off HB and on the wing like he does then you ought to have a really good DE, so if he doesn't there's something wrong there.

Yep, I'd be giving up something decent if possible if it meant moving up the draft to get Taranto. He is the exact player we need. Not sure how we'd get that done though.

Scrimshaw is at the exactly the type of player the Dogs have taken a risk on early in the draft (Mccrae, Bont). I can see a club taking a risk in the top 5 for him. I definitely think he has the biggest draft range of the top 10-15 picks. He could go anywhere from 4-15 (including academy bids) imo.

Macrae wasn't that great a risk
