I wonder who the six are? McGrath, Mcluggage, Brodie & Bowes near certainties then there's SPS, Ainsworth, Taranto & maybe even English who is rated #1 by at least one recruiter. Setterfield, Perryman & Scrimshaw are likely the next rung down followed by Marshall, Logue, Rotham, Venables, Florent, Berry & Simpkin amongst a few others that will go mid-late first/ early second.

I think we should get someone very good at 10. There's a chance someone goes earlier than expected (Marshall or Logue will appeal to Port imo) & we get a guy we rated top 5 at 10.
Was thinking he might have meant or said non-academy and it would presumably be Clugg, McGrath, Brodie, Ainsworth, Taranto and SPS.

Think we'd need a lot of luck to get one of our top 5 at 10 but it wouldn't be out of the question.

Gut feel is Port reach for a tall fwd or back. Marshall has been abysmal but is still the best tall fwd in the draft. GWS will fancy him too seeing as he spent time in their academy. English to either Freo (likely) or GC is the word on the street. McGrath at #1 along with Ess keeping the first pick is gaining legs meaning GWS will likely have two top 10 picks & they have form for picking needs ahead of best avail.

Time for another top 10 looksey.

P1 - Ess - McGrath
P2 - GC - Bowes (Bris bid)
P3 - Bris - McLuggage
P4 - Freo - English
P5 - GWS - Ainsworth (traded from Carl)
P6 - GWS - Setterfield (GC bid)
P7 - GC - Taranto (traded from Rich)
P8 - GC - Brodie
P9 - Port - Marshall
P10 - StK - SPS / Scrimshaw

Of course that's best case scenario with Bowes & Setterfield getting early bids & English & Marshall being picked before our pick. Nice to think about though....

Our old mate Brian thinks that Florent won't really be one we'd be looking at with 10. He thought Simpkin and Vennables would be ahead of him.

His Brandon White mail was spot on mail. Although his beast mode mail was right off.

I actually think the same re Florent. He looks the type that could slip similarly to a few highly rated kids last year (Matho, Balic, Tucker).

I don't mind Berry at 10. He's a good size, can play back, fwd & thru the middle. He went well in his skill testing at the combine too. He 'feels' more like a pick 10 than Florent.

OK so what do we need is probably the question I'd be asking.

So we've got Steele who is another tall mid along with Acres and Ross. Check. Assume we trade pick 46 or next year's second for him. SAo that leaves us pick 10 still.

Personally I'd like a pure outside pacy runner to help Jack Steven out as well as another inside/outside classy kick. Alternatively another tall defender is also on the cards.

Pick 10 could be Scrimshaw if he's available. Berry is another one who performed well in testing - just ran a > 15 beep test to go along with other favourable results. Still think Florent is pretty good. Bolton at 10 might be a stretch but has the pace however will he adjust to life in Melbourne?

Also pick 10 and then pick 64? Hmmm I think a little more needs to play out in order to get back in the second round. Use those two picks and upgrade Holmes with out 3rd and job done. Leave the big free agent/the cream etc to next year!!

BA sounds very confident Ess take McGrath & Lions take Ainsworth. Freo at THREE have been strongly linked to English & SPS to a lesser degree. FMD McLuggage could slip to pick FIVE if that plays out & Bowes as expected is bid on at TWO.

Still wonder if Taranto will slip to 10.....

Suddenly im invested in Carlton trading away 5 for the 5 GWS mugs

I hope we can keep pick 10 & grab Scrimshaw. He's such a point of difference & will transition to AFL level very well as he can play defence & work his way into becoming a midfielder or general utility over the next year or 2.

Bontempelli/Birchall hybrid is his player comparison, and if he could get anywhere near the level of those 2, I'd be doing cartwheels

Surely Freo go with SPS he seems a smarter choice and they will get Mc Carthy and could go after Aaron Black now as a back up tall with Kirstens likely as well.

BA questions whether he's avail at pick 8 let alone 10. His words - Arguably the most talented kid in the draft.

Here's a guy that may intrigue:
Jordan Ridley
H 192 - W - 79
Utility
Strong overhead
High kicking efficiency
Athletic
Great attitude

BA has him inside his top 20....

English will be a star. He was a midfielder however had a massive growth spurt. Now listed at 203cm. So now he's a ruckman but still possesses excellent agility & ground work from his mid days. With Sandilands getting towards the end English looks like a solid selection. At least one recruiter has him at #1 in the draft so Freo selecting him at #3 is very reasonable.

BA loves him, but I don't think he goes earlier than pick 8 IMHO

He's probably the lowest rated player of the top end Sandy boys - I'd have McGrath, Taranto, Setterfield before Scrimshaw, then Florent in the next bracket.

I don't think we should do it, but if we could trade pick 10 & future 1st rounder to GC for picks 8 & 14, I'd love to have Scrimshaw/Taranto & Florent. All local boys - low risk, very high reward

I definitely see Scrimshaw as the most likely of the better guys to be avail at pick 10. He's probably the one with the biggest draft range. Could go 5...could go 15.

I'm not overly keen on Florent. Looks like a generic vanilla mid type that's picked up in the 20s or 30s. Who knows, if we get a second rounder we could get him there. Berry at 10 feels right if Scrimshaw is gone. This Ridley kid looks a beauty too...

I think we stick fat with pick 10 & keep next years first. We may need next years first for a Kelly or Shiel type...who knows.

Yeah I know he looks good and Tm Peter won't have hurt his chances but I would be very nervous going that early on a ruckman. Ross is impatient and apart from TMP not many will be at their best before he is out of contract. He's pretty wiley old Ross too. I reckon he'd analyse Sydney and WB and think he can play a midfield dominant game to.

Don't reckon they'll reach that bad
If a gun mid is there they take him

Yea I reckon SPS is definitely on their short list. English or SPS for Freo. If English doesn't go to Freo id expect GC to snap him up with one of their three top 10 picks. Probably with the pick 6 they get from Richmond for Prestia.

Normally take most Combine results with a grain of salt, but @Eastern_Ranges' Josh Begley's repeat sprint result caught the eye. Impressive.

We'll see. They are pretty stacked for mids. I think they are another club that would love English. Paddy Ryder is getting on & Lobbe is a dinosaur.

Delisting of Schulz and Butcher m and they are on the look,
The price they paid for Dixon means that they will be hesitant for another key forward with a first for mine
