List Mgmt. Draft Discussion 2016

Ollie Florent killing the combine to go with his end to the season. I would be happy for us to trade some picks next year to get back into this draft, especially if we're confident of landing a decent free agent from next years crop. I think pick 10 will get us a very good player, especially with some disagreement between clubs about who the top 10 are. If Scrimshaw or SPS make it to pick 10, fantastic. But another pick between 16-25 would be great, there's some kids with huge potential who have just been lacking consistency.

If Gold Coast for example wanted to spread some of their picks this year out over next year we could offer our 2017 1st round pick and something as steak knives (Templeton, Shenton, a later pick) for 2 of their picks in the 20's this year.

I haven't been a big fan of taking a defenders with the first draft pick but from what I'm hearing the griffin logue type doesn't grow on trees explosive athlete at 193 who's capable of running through the midfield, think he's a much better version of Sam gilbert, (that can kick) wouldn't actually think it's a bad idea trying to get that type of player

Anyone able to give a run down of Louge? Is he third defender? Fast? Intercept marking?

Barrels
Equal 1st in the beep test (15.1)
Equal 4th in standing vertical jump
Equal 1st in running vertical (R)
3rd in 3km time trial (9.58 mins)

Genuine KPD at 193cm, played 8 Senior WAFL games, plus 1 Reserves and 7 Colts games. WA's full back at the Champs but has had runs as a tall mid as well.

EDIT: Averaged 14.5 disposals, 3.9 marks, 2.1 tackles and 4 hit outs a game playing Senior WAFL footy.

From the Top 10 rankings at the AFL Draft Combine Tom Williamson looks to have been the standout performer.

Who the **** is Tom Williamson? :)
Tom Williamson (North Ballarat Rebels/Ararat)

Born: 12.12.1998

Height: 188cm

Weight: 79kg

AFL bio: Skilful medium defender-midfielder who can break games open with his speed. Shows good awareness and footy smarts and is a prolific ball-winner for the North Ballarat Rebels. Represented Vic Country in the NAB AFL under-18 championships this year.

"Tom's the baby of our group, he's a couple of weeks from being ineligible for the draft. He's athletically gifted, he has a great body shape, he reads the play well and he's another one who does everything right off the field to be the best he can be. He moved down to Ballarat from Ararat three years ago to live with his nanna and be closer to the Rebels program, and he's really developed well in that time and sacrificed a lot to get to where he is."

Phil Partington, North Ballarat talent manager

Did he really have to put that in. Way to embarrass a guy.

On the list for pick 65.

No wonder Ainsworth is rated so highly when he's quick enough to do a 2.90sec 20m sprint and combines it with elite agility and a 14.3 beep. Great combo right there and he also came top 10 in the repeat sprints and running vertical jump.

Gallucci broke the standing vertical jump record!

SPP terrific athletically with a top 3 in the agility and a 6th in the beep, to go with the linebreaking speed he shows on the field.

Interesting that McGrath didn't break the 3sec mark for the 20m sprint. Just shows that you can be quick on the field without necessarily be quick on the track.

Might be worthwhile using Pick 65 this year, looks like there maybe some likely types available. Would be interested in any of Williamson, Kirby, Narkle, Romenski if still there.

Jacob Allison is one I hope we, at least, bid on.
From the Lions Academy, AA as an under-ager, can play inside and outside mid and at 193cm is going to be a monster.
Had a quieter year this year but the kid has huge upside.
Would expect Lions to match.

That Ablett bloke that does the draft telecast on the AFL site re Logue:

"If he wasn't already a top 10 pick he certainly is now".

I wonder how early he could go?

wouldnt surprise me if GWS go early at pick 5

Athlete first, footballer second. Was highly rated as an underager but he's been putrid this year. Considered a late draft selection & nowhere near pick 10. Pick 46 could even be too early.

I know another rangy, dynamic 193-94cm left-footer with a decent tank that I wouldn't mind in red, white & black.. happy with Billings though  The least bainsy could do for me is swindle Logue. Perfect pick for us, if he goes earlier must take scrimshaw and hope he stops kicking up and unders and becomes bont 2.0

Seems dangerous to go chasing a Bont, there aren't many that tall who make it as mids - many more turn out to be Cale Morton. Maybe we should just take someone who we're confident will be a good footballer.
