Seems dangerous to go chasing a Bont, there aren't many that tall who make it as mids - many more turn out to be Cale Morton. Maybe we should just take someone who we're confident will be a good footballer.
We can still pray for one of:
Brodie
Taranto
Scrimshaw
SPS
Ainsworth

logue sounds like a really intriguing prospect... big and athletic, with the potential of playing through the middle. Sounds like what the saints need.

Dream situation would be getting taranto with 10 tho lol :(

You're right, wouldn't mind McCluggage... certainly think there will be a few young 190+ lads with bont fyfe cripps etc to thank. Logue certainly looks to have scrimshaw covered on kicking and 1v1 (2 pretty crucial aspects..). This a grab from footy prophet I thought was interesting since he nom'd logue for our pick over a few more notables.

Versatile, spells in the ruck.... could he be the new Jason Blake?

As long as we stick to footy ability first and athletic ability second we'll be fine with whomever we pick...

Lot of talk about trading armo from others, maybe for 2 seconds. Lets run with that for a sec.

If we do, pick 10, 22 and 23 then who would we pick?

10: Taranto/Scrimshaw/Logue?

22/23: Berry, Simpkin, Bolton, Galluci, Scharenberg or would we look at Maibum (spelling?) as that tall defender here?

Would be happy to go Scrimshaw/Logue at 10 knowing that we could pick up two mids at 22/23. Would both be very good players knowing that perhaps we also have Steele, Stevens (maybe) and Carlisle....good bit of business!

I'm not advocating trading Armitage, I'm exploring the notion of trading Armitage. I can understand why we MIGHT look at it.....

Still think logue would be perfect for us. Fills a big hole on our list, he looks clean and composed. The more I think about the more it makes sense. I'd either want logue or sps, think florent is a bit of a stretch for 10 atm, think sps would give us that touch of speed and class we need and I think logue would be the marchbank replacement (except more explosive) so if we grabbed either of those I think it would fill our 2 big holes on our list.

Really starting to warm to Griffen Logue..

Big bodied mid, left footer :thumbsu:

Hoping that Taranto slides of course but if he doesn't I'm firmly on the Logue/Simpkin/SPP/Scrimshaw wagon :)

Barrels your thoughts on Logue & if 10 would be a stretch for him? (Apologies if already answered)

He reminds me of Sassy the Sasquatch

Not sure why people are worried about taking Scrimshaw... Pretty sure the bloke is a very good 3rd tall defender as well as being able to run through the midfield quite easily.

Best case scenario he's Bont-good; At worst, he's Grant Birchall-like

Cant lose

There do seem to be a few questionmarks on his ability or willingness to actually defend though. Sounds like someone who likes to play unaccountably across HB and there also seem to be questionmarks on his work-ethic/how seriously he takes his footy. He might be more Jared Brennan than Bont if that sort of stuff it true.

I agree with this however he is a coachable kid and it will be coached out of him very quickly, also showed in the TAC GF that he can be a dangerous forward.

He is also an elite kick over both short and long distances and has penetration which is what we are crying out for, players that have elite kicking skills.

hopefully.

Florent looks behind those buts rising

He is rising and rising quickly. The back half of his year was great and under extreme duress His combine results impressive and he is a natural footballer. I agree 10 may be a stretch however depending how this week pans out he may be there at 16-18 ( if we trade picks etc...) and we then jump on him.

Wouldn't mind if he was but interesting point really, would you draft Blake at 10 knowing the career he had for us? I probably wouldn't as I think Logue has some match winning attributes that Blake maybe lacked. Whether he's got the stamina and mental drive to get the best out of himself for 10+ seasons is a different question.
