shouldn't be on height, it should be on how players play, if they play tall.Hate to nitpick, but;
Stevens - 189cm 88kg
Steele - 187cm 88kg
Ross - 187cm 87kg
Surely if Stevens and Steele are 'tall' then Ross is too?
Similarly, if Dunstan (184cm 84kg) is a medium mid, then surely Armitage (183cm 86kg) is as well.
I reckon you can also add McKenzie (184cm 77kg) and Newnes (184cm 81kg) to the medium mids category, and arguably Gilbert (194cm 90kg) to the talls.
shouldn't be on height, it should be on how players play, if they play tall.
stevens does not at all in the contest however can take an overhead mark around the ground.
steele defs plays taller than his height.
also at work today i had some close to 195-200cm bloke who everyone was telling him good luck in the draft, any idea who it might of been Barrels, kinda looked like an 18yo Johnny Patton but was a pretty nice guy outside of his golf swing
Gee this is a thought provoking post.
We go for a ready to go kid or a kid with potential more upside?
We just picked up two ready to go mids with mature bodies and experience in the seniors so that would point to a kid who may be considered to have huge potential but may take a while...
....but the monster trade with the two picks next year has given room to consider the risk of a ready to go kid.
If it works there is the option to head for FA armed with picks and $$$$$.
If it doesnt work option to bundle the picks and trade up for a top skilled kid in 17.
Gee what a lovely range of options. Have fun Trout

played out of position his whole career, should of always been played behind the ball IMOFarren Ray at 1.87 was a terrific mark around the ground.

They had a senior list of 42 in 2016, which needs to be reduced to 40 for 2017.those list spots tho....

What was the go with Patful retiring and then going on the rookie list? They had a senior list of 42 in 2016, which needs to be reduced to 40 for 2017.
Steele
Stewart
Marchbank
Palmer
Pickett
WHE
McKenna
Patfull (retired to rookie list - won't play in 2017)
There's 8 spots opened up, but list need to be 40.... Just enough for 6:
McGrath
Setterfield
Perryman
Sproule
Macreadie
Mutch

He was contracted for next year, so they did the same thing we did years ago for Leigh Fisher & Fraser Gehrig - rookie listed them even though they retiredWhat was the go with Patful retiring and then going on the rookie list?

in this case mutch isn't even mentioned so i reckon theirs a good chance begets declined on the matching ala dunkleyPersonal thoughts would be:
- re-sign Downie before the ND and de-list Mohr, Barrett & Simpson
- ND get McGrath/McCluggage, Setterfield, Perryman, Macreadie, Garthwaite, Cumming, re-draft Barrett, upgrade Reid & Lloyd (= 38 main list)
- At the rookie draft take up to 5 rookies from: Mohr, Fisher, Meline, Byrne, Owen-Auburn (Patfull on the books also)
errr he has mutch at 18Just had a bit of a squiz at Barrel's idol Knightmare's thread and an interesting looking one he has at pick 25 is Benjamin Ronke, from Calder.
Given that ideally we want "genuine mids", preferably with speed, he might be someone we'd be interested in, especially now that we've got some height in with Stevens and Steele. His description of him sounds a lot like how someone would describe Jack Steven and KM has likened him to Luke Shuey.
Was apparently named as best for Calder in 5 of his last 6 games.

I forgot Ahern as well. Wouldn't surprise me if they just take their list down to the Standard 38 senior listed players & take only 5 new recruits.for example heres the latest post by a giants poster in their T&D thread

He has a big bias towards inside contested ball winning types and will always tend to rate them higher than everyone else as a general rule. What's the go with Knightmare havin Willem Drew in his top ten all year? Can't see him going close to the first round

Barrels' mateHe's a ******* raging campaigner that's what the go is!
Would need a bit more information than a vague guess at his height...shouldn't be on height, it should be on how players play, if they play tall.

Yeah, Freeman is tiny compared to his listed size. He was with Gresham at the jumper presentation and he wasn't to much taller. Armo looks a bit smaller than me at 6'2" but not miles off. I would have thought he'd be around 6' to 6'1"
I must also add that Hayward, much to Richo's (significant) pleasure, is an exceptional tackler.
I'd say he plays smart rather than strongGresh plays strong
