"Pick Me" article on SPP in today's HUN says he's got no go home factor, having moved around heaps so far in his life and being used to it. From what he said he seems like he'll be happy to go pretty much anywhere.

Someone who barracks for Brisbane posted this on the D&T board. Made me a very happy little Vegemite!:

Conole has come out and said that we're taking fairly mainstream picks at 3 and 16, but that our picks at 20 and 21 are likely to be roughies. From memory, I think the quote was something like "might not be among those considered top 30 on the media boards".

Given that 20 and 21 are our last live picks (excl academy), it could be anyone that they rate from anywhere in the draft.

Imagine if Essendon go smokie at 20 as rumoured and then Brisbane follow suit with 21 and 22!

Could be like 2013 all over again when Lang and Apeness went just before our picks and we jagged Dunstan and Blacres. Or 2014, when Carlton taking Boekhorst allowed Goddard to get through to us.

Would depend on who else was still on the board. Is meant to to be very good, but sounds/seems very similar to Jack Newnes, but without Jack's tank. Is not as quick or tall as White.

As I've said previously, I doubt very much that White is still 188cm, after having seen him live in R23 and seeing him side-by-side with Liam Dawson- who is listed at 189cm and looked shorter than him- and from what I've seen, Witherden is listed at 186/187cm.

Definitely as quick too, but he's 'only' 187cm.

As quick as White? If that's the case, why is his speed not being talked up more by the likes of BA, Pelchen, Buckenara and so-on? White is genuinely quick.

Even before he broke his leg very badly I had concerns about Witherden's pace and endurance. There are quite a few athletically challenged outside types with good kicks who come through every year and the success rate for them is not all that high. Witherden could easily be one of those. He is pretty one paced and I doubted he had the endurance to play significant minutes through the midfield even before he had 8 months on the sidelines. He needed to build his tank this year to solidify his draft position and he has obviously has not been able to do that.

I'm all for drafting best available ahead of needs. But I'm not sure would clearly be the best available and the need is simply not there at all.
I'd rather take Rotham or even Ridley. They have risks too, but would at least have their height and athleticism as a point of difference if they made the grade.

This is a kid who basically just starting the training/education the other boys have had since they were 14. Beautiful kick and mark and speed.
Hes shown seriousness and moved to meblourne. Couldnt speak english at 13. At 19 hes fluent. Amazing kid and Now Im thinking with proper training he'll go up many leves.

Well why would I be? Misses targets, looks soft, a 19yo 186cm and couldnt even dominate 17yos. Whats the appeal? He looks slick?? That will not stand up at afl level. Bookmark it he wont play more than 30 games. Id rather drew at 23 - real footballer than cedric bloody cox.
