WOW! does he ever burn the football?

Apparently, but if that's a genuine highlights package- as opposed to just a package of everything he's done of note in a particular game- they're not likely to show up in there.

Have seen multiple u/18 watchers claim that he's a fairly average kick, only thing putting me off him

I haven't seen anything but highlights but he looks clever with his disposal and elusive. Would think his game looks very adaptable to AFL with fast paced movement and decision making.

Florent does burn the occasional kick, overall there's not a whole lot wrong with his kicking to be honest. His ball drop will cause him to miss the sweet spot every now and then but from what I've seen it's not a huge problem.

I'm a little cautious about recruiting anyone from somewhere as remote as Halls Creek. I always think of Nathan Djerrkura, who retired at just 24. He moved to Melbourne as a teenager to attend Scotch College, and had been away from home for about 10 years and IIRC felt like his career had been going since he first landed in Melbourne.

I'll back in our recruiters' decision, but it's something we have to consider.

Article on Essendon and their picks in today's HUN and they have a quote on what they're looking for with each of their picks and Dodo said they have a couple in the mix for pick 20 that they had in their top 5 early in the year. So who would they be? I'm guessing one is Marshall. Anyone else coming to mind for anyone?

Apparently Longmire met with Florent a few days ago, according to Twomey and some are thinking they may grab him as high as pick 9. If so, he prolly doesn't get past them at 19, if they don't in fact pull the trigger at 9.

If Florent affirmed his desire to stay in Victoria due to his family situation as some have alluded to then Sydney and other interstate clubs may bypass him

Then its North, WB, Essendon or us

Jaxons on SS has alluded to Florent as being a huge interest for us at 23

I haven't followed the draft quite as much this year, can someone explain to me why we would take Battle with our first pick? Seems a very similar type to Membrey based on his profiles..

Depth.

As I've said previously, unless we were going to be taking someone with a ceiling of Marshall, I'd rather we spent say our 2nd pick on some KPD depth, so that if we get any injuries to the likes of Paddy/Bruce/Skunk, we can move Carlisle or Goddard forward until they return. Or Riewoldt, in the short term.

Makes a lot more sense to me than spending our first pick on someone we'd be hoping we don't have to play much for the next 8 years, as they don't look to be an obvious upgrade on any of Paddy, Bruce or Skunk.
