Tom Ledger

Tom Ledger, 175cm, 79kg, Claremont (WA)
Little was expected when Ledger was chosen in the West Australian squad for the under-18 championships. But after returning to club footy in Perth, he earned enough votes for best on ground to win the medal for the best and fairest in the colts competition.

Once again, the knock on him is his height, but he could go late in the draft.

Worth drafting?

Stopped reading when the article said Elari plays for East Fremantle...

But I expect him to be drafted, had a great year for the (Not So) Mighty Demons. Will probably go in the Rookie Draft.

Not to mention comes from the "geraldton area" - perhaps 3 hours from gero - 1 hr from perth.

Also has his time as 2,79 in the highlights and 2.83 in the article

Re: Tom Ledger

One of your mates Ghossein??

Ledger is a very very good player at Colts level. But as a Sydney recruiter put it to me, "does not have something special that will make him a good AFL player, will be a good WAFL player but". Yet that hasn't stopped us thus far...

Re: Tom Ledger

sounds like we will definately pick him up going by our recruiters track record in recent times then

Re: Tom Ledger

I think we've drafted enough smalls as rookies straight from colts. We need to go for some real quality, pick up a kid who has that special quality that makes them stand out from the guys who go later in the draft.

Draft Bolters

Kirk Ugle, 173cm, 69kg, Swan Districts (WA)
Ugle's story reflects that of Isaac Smith. He played most of this season with Bunbury's Carey Park in the South West Football League in Western Australia before Swan Districts persuaded him to try out in Perth.

Ugle played in the last four under-18 games, and then impressed at WA's recent state screening.

He's quick, with clean hands and a damaging left foot. The thing against him is his height, but he could go late in the draft.

Anyone seen him play? Is he a mid or crumbing small forward?

I saw him against Swan Districts in the semi-final, was very very impressive, was sitting next to one of his mates so got the low down on him. Plays a bit of both, however at his height you would have to pin him down as more of a small forward.

Has this been mentioned yet? From the AFL site:

Jack Darling: From being the most touted player after the 2009 season, Darling went backwards in 2010. His performances as a goalkicker for West Perth and the WA under-18 team fluctuated, but in his favour, his rampant competitiveness was still evident. He should have done enough to go in the mid-20s in the national draft.

Mid-20's?

I hope we get him if still available. Polec + Darling + ??? + Brennan :thumbsu:

Yeah, Darling at pick 26 has been been my secret wish, but I really doubt he drops that far - more a case of the media not really on the same page as the clubs there.

Very surprised to see Paul Daffey rate Darling a mid-20's prospect! I guess if he slides pass Carlton and Freo at 18 and 20, he's a good chance to slide to us at 26:thumbsu:
But the bad news is, according to him Jamie Cripps wont be available to us at 26. He rated him a 15-20 prospect. Same with Reece Conca.

A Gaff, Darling, Andreoli package sounds great!

Not sure if this is the relevant place to post this but this article says we've upgraded Stevenson, as well as Hams:

WEST COAST
IN

Traded in: NIL
Elevated Rookies: Ashton Hams, Lewis Stevenson, Andrew Strijk, Callum Wilson
Picks: Round Three Compensation selection (Josh Fraser) from Collingwood; Round Five selection (currently number 86) from North Melbourne

OUT

Retired:
Traded: Ben McKinley (North Melbourne)
Delisted: Adam Cockie (r), Tony Notte, Will Sullivan (r), Beau Wilkes
Picks: Round Three selection (currently number 45) to Collingwood

National draft picks 4, 26, 28, 62, 79, 86, 96, 113, 130 (plus one end-of-R3 compensation pick).

Not sure how informed this article is though, and can't be stuffed working out if it all evens outs properly, with Veteran rules and whatnot..
