Gee bandwagon-jumper much? :p (It's alright everyone is welcome aboard!)

If you back through the forums I was virtually the first one into Sheppard this time last year too. Even before it emerged the club was taking him I was trying to convince everyone how much more complete he was than Jetta and Lucas.

Hoping for a repeat this year ;)

hellz yer
Ive changed my bandwagon every week without fail. Cant make up my mind in this draft

I went atley to polec to gaff to heppell.

When did changing your opinion become the 11th sin?

If it was the 11th, it must have been one of the unwritten rules that Patronij broke.

The rule put into words would say: Ye that jump from one bandwagon to another, credibility does not reside with thou. Thy bandwagondry shall be punished with ye burning of thy previous bandwagon, and thou shall be labeled along with such heretics as CelticPride.

The first post adagio mentions Heppell was the 12th of September.

He didn't want him.

As long as everyones coming to there senses now she's all good. Lets home the recruiting staff are on the same page also

Sublimely-talented midfielder Andrew Gaff, who won the club best-and-fairest despite playing just seven games, is the Chargers' best chance and is likely to be a top-10 selection.

"It's just a matter of where he goes, but we're thinking somewhere between four and six," Conole said. "He's followed the AFL model: played Vic Metro under-16s and 18s, been a member of the AFL-AIS Academy and had an outstanding year.

"I think he'll probably end up at West Coast, who have pick four, but Brisbane has pick five and Richmond pick six.

"Luke Shuey was at our best and fairest a few weeks ago and he's quite a jovial boy. "He joked that he'd look after Andrew if he went to the Eagles, so that was terrific."

Just spoke to a guy who is an Assistant TAC Coach - reckons they'll both be guns. Reckon's Heppel's the slightly better player but would go for Gaff if you wanted a mid.

If true, must take Heppell.
A mid can be picked in 2012/2013 with our first pick.
Best available - every day of the week.

Well this is funny.:thumbsu:

I am guilty then. Initially I thought Heppell in a big way as I saw him as a Goddard type player but then after reading a bit more on BF and through the papers, draft coverage etc I shifted to Gaff.

I think this was based more on our needs and also IMO we draft too many bigger taller mids who are 188 > 190cm and would rather a smaller more agile midfielder at pick 4.

Initially I wanted Heppell also because I could see him making our best 22 early next season as he already is a good size whereas Gaff may get some games next year but will take longer to bulk up. So I was being a tad impatient to see results from this draft ASAP.

Either way I will be very happy.

We are in a pretty good position this draft, whoever we pick up Heppel Polec or Gaff im pretty sure most of us will be happy to have that extra gun mid.

It will be like the Judd Ball Hodge thing all great players but one of them might be god mode.

Its very much another Chris Masten vs Cale Morton scenario. While you could have made the argument Morton was a more talented player - Masto had a much more clearly defined role at AFL level (despite Woosh not playing him there). I feel Heppel is going to be another Cale Morton type who although talented will struggle to find a niche at AFL level IMHO.

Gaff for mine.

He wins the BnF playing just 7 games?

Yes please.

Yeah, always a bit leery about stuff like that. The year we drafted Shuey there was another bloke from the Chargers who did exactly the same thing. Did not get drafted and not wroth much now, so big pinch of salt on that one.

Regarding the Heppell/Morton comparison, I get the same impression too, though I think Heppell looks like he can stack on the weight a bit better to become a proper HBF/defender. There was always teh theory taht Morton would play all over the ground, but he really doesn't have the athleticism/agility, which is part of the query with Heppell. Does his midfield play translate to AFL, or is it more a juniors thing? He didn't seem to run through lines a lot on the footage from the champs, going more with the long kicks and loose man play off HBF (again, similar to Morton).

The order of the first six appears to be David Swallow (Gold Coast), Harley Bennell (Gold Coast), Sam Day (Gold Coast), Andrew Gaff (West Coast), Dyson Heppell (Brisbane Lions) and Jared Polec (Richmond).

Interesting how confidentially they write that. I wouldn't be against Gaff though, especially now that the interchange rules are different and endurance is more valuable. Also, Id be slightly concerned if we took another HBF and tried to turn him into a mid.

I think recruiting based on the new rule would be a mistake - and I don't reckon clubs will do it. The rule will only last a few years i reckon.

On Gaff - god I hope if we do pick him up he ends up being decent - the idea of picking a bloke at 4 with the name Gaff who ends up a dud isn't worth thinking about.
