I'm sorry but why would we want Conca at all? Another inside grunt with average speed and footskills but with hardness? Sounds just like Selwood Snr.

We need to be drafting quality in the areas we lack, not supplementing what we already have plenty of with half decent players.

Except Conca has plenty of utility to play back and forward and excellent skills by hand and foot. I'd be surprised if Conca lasts to 26.

I see cripps as a goal kicking half forward with good defensive skills and ability to keep the ball in the forward half.

I see Hansen as a mobile small forward.

While Cripps can play that role he isn't going to get anywhere near such a position at AFL level against the likes of Hams and Strijk.

Possibly, but I very much doubt that any club will draft Cripps with the intention to play him solely as a shut-down small defender. He has excellent footskills, good pace and has kicked multiple goals in at least one game for East's off the HBF/wing.

Not sure who we would be interested in other than Blight, Miles and maybe Browne but as mature age Rookies ?

What about jarrod atkinson?
has pace, something we will surely be targeting this draft.

Perhaps will only nominate for preseason/rookie draft? Re-rookie option?

I reckon you may be onto something. For someone rated so highly by so many within the system I would surprised if he's not on a list next year.

Note that Donaldson has been released by Carlton from the rookie list. Is a West Perth boy drafted from their colts last year and is 195cm and is highly regarded at WP as a KPP. I believe he had a few issues settling in Melb which caused the delisting. I know it was reported in the paper yesterday but IMO he may be worth a shot. Does anybody know more ?

Id go for Newton then. Is strong overhead, accurate infront of goals, as dynamic as Cripps but proven he's a quality mid/ forward at colts level. Excellent left foot kick and one player i would be happy to pickup with our third pick.

Newton > Cripps for me too.

I just noticed we can't use our PSD pick unless we delist someone after the ND. Can't see us delisting anyone though, Hansen is staying (Woosh has intimated). Might be Bones?

Nooooooooooooo! What a joke if true, and it's not even funny.:mad::mad:

Not much we can do unless he decides he wants to quit due to his contract for next year. He's like the bad guy in Lethal Weapon 2 having diplomatic immunity, he's unfortunately untouchable.

Um ........... no.

You can sack someone under contract and we just did this to Houlihan, Freo did it to Ruffles as well. You are obviously obliged to pay them out but this causes salary cap issues. The assumption made on here is Houlihan got the bullet instead of Hansen because he was paid less and we would have gone over the 2010 cap by sacking Hansen. We also sacked / retired Stenglien last year with a year to run on his contract, he went after the ND so his payout fell into this years cap, thats what we a hoping for with either Hansen or Nicoski, they go after the ND giving us a pick in the PSD.

No one however is holding their breath.:(

I don't think that is correct the more I think about it.

The reason we could sack Houlihan and not affect our 2010 payments - is that we are planning on getting him back onto our list for 2011.

Hence - his 2011 payments would still fall in the 2011 year. If someone else took him prior to us - then that removes us from the 2011 payments as well.

If we simply delisted him and he didn't get put on a list for next year - then yes, it would have fallen into 2010's year.

With Hansen - we wouldn't have planned on getting him back on the rookie list for 2011 - and highly unlikely anyone else would take him - hence his payments would fall into 2010
