On a non-local note, what about Green or Prestia? They may slip to 26/28 and assuming we pick up a KPF with one of those picks, who would you prefer out of Prestia/Green/Andreoli/Cripps/Fasolo?

Alroy Gilligan got delisted by Richmond. Claremont boy, from up north, I have heard he has talent, but not much else, would we look at him for a rookie spot?

I suppose he'd be considered...

I liked him at WAFL colts a couple of years ago - lightning quick and super evasive half forward/wing that was unlucky to miss out on the WA U18 squad.

Doesn't sound like he's fired too many shots at VFL though, only playing 10 games in seniors over the last 2 years and reserves form doesn't seem that crash hot either.

How many rookie spots do we have available?

Prestia is what 175cm????

Would you say he is significantly more talented than colyer who lasted to 26 last year in a draft with next to no significant talls and less considered depth of talent?
Significantly better (but not as fast). Has the poise, pace and foot skills which let him tear it up in the TAC grand final, add 5cm and he'd be top 20.

wceblog: We have three rookies and 2 veterans, how mayn are we allowed?

I read the maximum capacity is 8 rookie spots minus number of veteran listed players - so we'll have 3 rookie spots available.

the question will be will those 5cm mean he drops enough for us to take him at 26. The other thing to account for is if at 26 theres a couple of quality kpp's still available what happens then.

Personally if you look at some of the so called experts top prospect lists and phantoms theres possibilities of players like watson, cook, mitchell and even lycett dropping into our range. Some even suggest darling will slide to us. (i doubt it as i think if he is there at 20 freo will take him). Say it all falls to place for us in that regard.

If watson, lycett, darling, prestia, cripps, andreoli, conca, fasolo, hallahan, prestia and pitt are all available between 28 and 30 odd when we have our third pick would we as a club be remiss in not taking 2 quality KPP considering we will have lost wilkes, spangher, notte, hansen and sullivan this year and have glass and cox coming towards the end of their careers?

Personally the way i look at our list is we basically have schofield,brown,e-mac,wilson,kennedy and nicnat as young key position players. That's it. Thats 6 players for what is 5-7 needed to play each week in 2 years time. If we reach draft day and take gaff at 4 and two of watson, mitchell, cook, darling, lycett, litherland, barden or even mccarthy with our second rounders then i would be absolutely stoked.

The way its looking with some of the possible potential available at psd and rookie draft time for fast outside players and small forwards like ugle, yarran, thomas likely being available a draft of Best available first then Key position for needs could be a very sound list management decision. The other option is taking small fast players with our second rounders and hoping like hell that players like hamp, menagola and notte not only make it to rookie positions but then actually start to deliver within the next 2-3 years.

After reading some of the Phantom drafts, there seems to be a bit of talent around these picks ie Prestia, Green, Parker etc and if someone slides like stevens last year (Come on Darling) we could do very well out of this draft

I think we'll take Gaff at 4. Would be very happy with him, Heppell or Polec.

With pick 26, I think we should take Green, Pitt or Mitchell, or a slider (fingers crossed for Lamb or Darling).

Then with Pick 28, which will end up being around pick 31 we should take tall if we don't take Mitchell, Darling or Cook at 26, or if we do pick a tall, choose between Cripps, Andreoli, Newton, I Smith or a slider.

Also really want Isiah Stevens with our first rookie pick, has amazing talent, is a risk but thats what rookie picks a for.

Attitude attitude and attitude. With Gaff you know that you will get the best out of him.
I have no idea where this notion comes from that because Masten is supposedly a bit of a w***er off the field, that his poor form is stemming from not pushing himself hard enough. It's ridiculous and is starting to really annoy me.

Agree with you Matt, he blitzed the pre-season training, was winning time trials and playing really well in scratch matches and early pre-season games.

Was thinking the same thing.
Being a w***er off field doesn't mean you don't give it your all in training/preseason/etc.

I'm not sure their be too many Quality talls at 26,28 as Gold coast need them badly - I'm sure our recruits will have their ears too the ground trying to make an educated quess as to what will be around - but other wise the strategy is good.

I'm all over his un-tackle-ability. Great agility and did super in the repeat sprints also has good disposal. there are a number of good players going to be available at 26/28 though so i think we will be right. i love the top 30-35 in this draft.
What's your thoughts on picks 26-28.Do you think we should take 1 KPF with these picks?Who would be a better prospect Mitchell or Cook?

Really excited about the talent still around at 26 and 28. The depth is just fantastic this year.

We could get any 2 of Cripps, Prestia, Andreoli, Mitchell, Green, Newton, Litherland, Conca, Pitt, Cook, Wilson, Hallahan, Fasolo, Parker, Wilkinson, Crocker, Lycett, Lamb, Darling, Jacobs, Guthrie, Karnezis, Young, Tape or I Smith.

There is tons and tons of talent on that list, and a lot of them will be available when our selections come around.

I'm hoping for a fast goal-kicking, skillful receiver. Out of the above Cripps, Prestia, Andreoli, Green, Newton, Conca, Pitt, Lamb, Hallahan, Fasolo, Wilkinson, Jacobs, Young and Smith would all be great pick up's. Particurly the first 8 mentioned above. My personal favourites of them are Cripps, Prestia, Andreoli, Newton and Green. They're all fantastic prospects, and I'd be more than happy with any of them with our two second round selections.

Then with our other pick, I think we need another tall. Preferably a forward like Mitchell, Cook or Karnezis, but Litherland is also a great prospect.

This would be our best result imo:

4: Gaff/Heppell/Polec
26: Cripps/Prestia/Green/Newton/Andreoli
28: Cook/Mitchell/Litherland

Thats Probably my preferred result in bold. Either way there is gonna be good talent available at all these picks and there are no real standouts.
