I'm happy. We topped up on key talls. Brown is an enormous amount of upside to him, can play both ends of the ground but will be developed into a full-back. Reid needs time in the gym, but he's very agile for a big man. Dawes did his knee and won't play next season.

Goldstack sounds great. He's kicked 5 goals twice in the forward line, but plays mostly as a centreman where he's picked up 35 possessions at times. Tall midfielder, is very quick.

D*ck's an exciting player across half-forward - he's got the ability to do feakish things.

The thing I like about the talls is that they really round out our structure for the future. We no longer have to worry about who's going to take over for our aging talls like Presti, Wakelin and Rocca.

there are a few conclusions that we can make from this draft:
We obviously rate our mids we have very highly, the recruiting staff obviously feel that our midfield will be strong enough with the likes of Pendlebury, thomas, CLARKE, shaw, johno, etc
there were a couple more but i have forgotten at this present moment, am very hngover...

p.s how good can goldstack be if he was training with the hawks and they didnt pick him up?

p.p.s What about ******** he is 68 kgs?!

p.p.p.s does this mean that d1ck is going to have to come of the swear word list?! haha

Hine said on ten that the 3 talls ran the 20m sprint faster than Daisy

By picking up dawes he will most likely be put on the long term injury list thus allowing us to promote one of our rookies like Clarke

Edit: Just watched derek hines video and he said theres a good chance that danny nicholls will get promoted

It's Goldsack, and we overlooked him about 10 times too.

He's a weird cat. He looks like, and is the same height as, Matty Scarlett, yet plays like a midfielder. Technically he's a utility who can plug holes.

The trouble with utilities is that they at least give the appearance of not having any specific dominant AFL role. Jack of all trades, master of none. It's not to say he can't play, but it's more like where can he play.

Will, or can, he he play a Scarlett style full back role, an Ash Hansen-ish forward role or an Embley type running tall midfielder role? Still hard to say, but there's only one way to find out!

As for sticking the boots into Hawthorn, they've recruited just as well as anyone over the past couple of years.

Assuming that they'll be good enough.

I recall a few years ago people saying that Billy Morrison will be replacing Rocca.

And we all know how that worked out.

Well yeah, but we had incompetent recruiting staff in those days. Given Hine's recent track record, we can be a little bit more hopeful.

Agreed, Hine's record looks good. HOwever, its hardly an exact science, is it. And even the best recruiting teams will make more misses then hits.

Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that if we get two good players out of this draft then we have done well.

Given that, if you are trying to draft for a particular position, it makes sense to draft many players of that type, so as to give you the biggest chance of getting at least one that turns out to be a top notch AFL player.

Between Reid, Brown and Dawes, we've got a good shot to get at least one or two good KP players.

The talls that we picked up should all turn out to be guns.hind described them as tall kpp's who have got terrific leg speed. The reason why we didn't recruit middies first is that there are a few young players to come through the ranks.Next year our midfield rotation could combine the following players Thomas, pendelbury, swan, holland, rhyce shaw and heath shaw, medhurst, leon davis.then we have the new recruits, cox, stanley, cook, clarke, brad ********,goldsac..... extractors of the ball--burns,licca,obree.......suddenly with those rotations taking the pressure off the older guys we may not be as slow as previous years.Didak (when he returns may spend some time through the midfield as well).

Forgot to add in danny nicholls who should be promoted off the rookie list and he is another player to add to the midfield.so we do have a lot of players to rotate and see who develops well.

As far as I'm aware, Stanley hasn't got the engine to play in the midfied and he struggles to adapt to the tempo, in my opinion, he will not get there. He is a player who can be used off a half-back flank.

A sensible temperament however, I reckon we will continue to rotate players through the midfield, and it worked in the first half of the season. Rotations are the key to success in the modern-day game. The good sides constantly rotate players on and off the bench to keep them going through the season.

It would be nice to see him play a bit as well and he's learned the hard way. He needs to play a few games in the Nab Cup.
