I've got a strong feeling we'll take Sheppard (definitely not based on Hackdorn's article.. if anything that's a deterrent).
Just a gut feel. Just watching some vision of him and reading his bio, he simply screams West Coast. He's always been linked with us at 7, and Burgan's draft rating has him 7-20, so clearly we're keen on him. He's just as athletic as Jetta and Lucas, only with a more well-rounded game.

You could be right on one count but Sheppard is the late mail for pick 7, so brownlow for Jetta at another club.Jetta will be our next brownlow medalist IMO![]()

Sheppard is real talent.Would be disappointed with sheppard. Seems too vanilla for a pick 7. Naturally, I'd yield to the better judgment of the recruiters, but if they put their faith in Sheppard ahead of someone like Jetta or Black I'd take that as a concession that there's no hope of plucking real quality out of pick 7.
Sheppard is real talent.
But he could be available at 22, I think the Sheppard smoke is to throw other clubs off Jetta.
I still think Jetta will be pick 7.

Sunday Times reportsHow does that work?
Agree totally.Jetta may well be # 7. But you are kidding yourself if you think Sheppard is any sort of chance @ 22.
As for Sheppard being a smoke screen ... sorry cant agree with that.
1. Scully
2. Trengove
3. Martin
4. Morabitto
5. Cunnington
you would think these 5 are set
6. Sydney .... Rohan, Lucas or Jetta......
So how would Sheppard influence Sydney's choice ????
For what its worth I have watched quite a few East Fremantle games and the championships and I was puzzled as to why Lucas was ever rated so far ahead of Sheppard. Thats not to bag Lucas but rather indicative of how impressed I was with with Sheppard.
West Coast indicated several months ago that Jetta, Lucas and Sheppard were all in the mix @ # 7 , I still think they all have creditable chances and we all have to wait another 44 hours or so to know the final decision.
So WOODHOUSE & CO do your stuff ..![]()

Every phantom draft assumes we'll pick a West Australian. Jetta, Lucas, Morabito and now Sheppard. There seems to be a belief that we'll take a local, which is somewhat supported by Naitanui and Masten being our early picks last couple of years. What chance we take a Victorian?
Butcher or Melksham or Cunnington if the top 6 don't fall as expected?
All three are sub par, Cunnington has poor skills. Melksham is a down hill skier and Butcher can kick straight, best victorians go local so unless we have pick 1-4 in a draft where Victorians are the standouts then we wont have a chance at taking them before the West Aussies are better options as they are probably going to be in this draft. We would have taken Cotchin if we had pick 2 in 2007 after that no Victorian was an option, Naitanui needs to explaining.
In the end pick 7 is less concerning than pick 22/23 for me.
Little game before draft period
Place your predictions for who you think eagles will select with Picks 7, 22 and 23, and the person who guesses correctly, is the winner
Il go First
7: Jetta - I suspect his name will be read out
22: Sheppard - I have a feeling he will slide, with Taylor likely for freo, and Bartlett in the early first round, he could slide
23: Christensen - We have allegedly shown interest in him
Very boring/plain prediction from me. Lets see if anyone can correctly guess
