Not as one-up-manship but tell me who the Eagles inside midfielders are. Then I'll tell you by that definition who is comparable at Freo.

By the way... heres Wisbey's Ryley Dunn profile.

How awesome does Dunn sound?!?!

Chad Fletcher and Daniel Kerr I would consider. Go through the Brown's, Doswell's etc and point some out, I'd love to see:eek:

So with all your rabbiting on you are saying WC only have two inside midfielders anyway? (I am assuming you are a West Coast supporter)

I'd say Hasleby, Cook and (given physical developemt this pre-season) Schammer. I consider Schammer the best inside midfielder we have. Dunn was drafted for his hardness and will become an inside midfielder according to his profile.

I still believe a decent ruck set up will solve our clearance problems.

You asked for immediate ones. When i get a chance I'll go through the list and post them all for you ok.

If you can't name them off the top of your head and need a protracter, a set square and a stats book to find them then I would say they are not really worth mentioning.

Gardiner is one of the major components of West Coast clearances ans direct taps to "outside" midfielders such as Cousins and Judd would be a more significant reason for WC being better at clearances than Freo than your "inside" midfielders.

1. If he is not an inside midfielder than what is he?

2. What is an inside midfielder?

Bell himself says he doesn't go into the packs as much anymore under the instruction of Connolly, and plays more of an outside role. Sure he occasionally gets the hard ball, but generally he is receiving... that's his role.

Daniel Kerr (69 in 2003)
Ben Cousins (52 in 2003)

Thank you for proving my argument. What is an inside midfielder? Judd is a great player and would get his fair share of hard ball gets but do you think he is an "inside midfielder"?

One thing the Eagles do have is a better midfield unit in general and a better ruck set up. It is not whether those midfielders are "inside" or "outside" midfielders that make the difference.

judd is both and inside and outside midfielder...that the beuty of him. he gets the hard ball and runs and turns into the running outside midfielder. he was third in the AFL for hardball gets...a very handy effort for a 'down hill skier' - as some have described him. add that to the 30 goals in a season and he is a very handy midfielder.

i think if u wanted examples of inside midfielders u'd look at Scott West and to a lesser extend Jason Johnson.

Outside midfielders i think about Headland, Carracella, Chambers and pratically half the bulldogs young midfielders.

WOW...I'm salivating at the prospect of seeing this guy play next season!!!

Looks like I was wrong, according to this profile he could easily develop into a hard-nosed inside midfileder, rather than just a winger.

Only suspect part of his game is his kicking accuracy, as he prefers to bomb it long. I'm sure that will get better with time.

Seems to me he could be the new and improved Cook!

Come on, Dasler. Haven't you had an opportunity to comb through the Weavils endless list of young logs to find your other inside midfielders? I wouldn't have thought it would take very long. There's none.

Oh, and Sera, are you still Ryley Dunn's No 1 fan? He'll be arriving in Freo soon and you can go down and greet him if you wish. Leave the kneepads at home though - you'll scare the kiddies.

I think that the player the Eagles took (Waters) would have been better for Freo than Dunn.

Interesting you should say that. Possibly its just grass is greener on the other side syndrome, but for a quite a while now, sometimes I've gotten the impression that WC and Freo are drafting for each other in some weird sort of way?

Back in the hoary old days of the 2001 draft, I remember a docker supporting mate of mine saying that they should have taken a classy midfielder (Judd) instead of Polak, whilst I was very surprised we passed over a tall target, which at the time I thought we needed more.

The following year, when the Headland/Chick duo were on the table, after the trades had been done, iirc, I remember talking to kuepper (yes, i feel dirty) and agreeing that things were a bit around the wrong way- that Chick would have been more valuable to Fremantle as an inside midfielder, whereas West Coast needed another runner and gunner.

Now, this draft, Fremantle went for mostly talls and one midfielder, whereas we went for two midfielders and one tall. I'm not arguing about the relative merits of any of the above, but sometimes I do wonder if there is any reason for this or if its just a coincidence.

Mead,

I think it just means that the 2 clubs recruiting people are taking who they believe are the best players still available whether tall, small, quick etc.

Love your infatuation with me. Another git got.

It's not infatuation, baby, it's raw animal lust. You're a wrongheaded feisty footy babe whose passion is as undoubted as it is misplaced. Plus you learn fast and turn quicker than Paul Medhurst slipping away from a hack Weavil defender.

Answering the question wouldn't be too difficult, would it? I know you've got a thing for "Dirty Deeds" - perhaps it's time to put away the Benny doll, shelve the Michael Gardiner Memorial Clearasil and get slavering after some real men.
